these nerfs to azir are going to make him so terrible

he's already got a very sub-par early game. his late game was the only thing that made up for it. and while i get that he had a ton of damage late, cutting the ap ratio on his w from .6 to .4 is absolutely vicious, AND you're nerfing the everliving shit out of his q's damage. he's already heavily gated by mana and blue buff dependent. now you're gutting his damage to trash levels too.

His early game is sub-par? u funny

when it comes to all inns its below sub par

when it comes to being annoying because he pokes you 24/7 its fine but his early range and capability to reposition his soldier makes it crap tier again -if he places a soldier you juke cause q is incoming

  • if he stands close enough to hit your ranged mage with his q then you can all innn him and i already said his early all inns are weak (90% of his range comes from soldiers standing outside of his skills range, otherwise his range is medicore) -if he farms with soldiers then guess who will get ganked ?

the only reason azir is considered even strong is because ppl see him poking and they think that he can win the all inn fight on top of that, he cant he has just 3 skills in his laning phase, and once he gets his ult he still needs loads of poke before being able to actualy all inn you

List me champions that can all in him early enough and exploit this weakness.

I'm not being flip. If you know something I don't, I'd like to be able to spread the news to people who complain.

As of right now, I'd like to argue with you, because you say 'if he farms with soldiers, then guess who will get ganked?' You're right, in a perfect would if Azir is poking and farming with his solders, I'd certainly hope that he gets ganked, but I believe that Zed players say the same thing about ganked Zed, just wait for him to use his shadow.

You know what that means? Wait for them to make a mistake so they can't escape. Do you know what these boards thinks as a whole of this argument? That's it's bullshit. Especially with wards and (I believe) Azirs ability to hold onto a charge of his W to still escape and farm, I don't believe that the current jungler situation is the best when it comes to waiting for Azir to screw up.

But hey, I'd like to actually learn what champions do well against him, and how exactly to all in, because it seems like Azir wins the poke match up VERY easily, and zones very well.

vel koz- azir needs to walk through his range to peck him which sets vel at an serious advantage xerath- the same ahri would be the master of this matchup- even if she wouldnt be op as she is (all she does is just wait for a changce to hit charm) lux -the reason is the same as with xerath vel koz syndra- because she lives in all inns thou she got rekt ballance wise, i think she might make it since dfg hurt her late not her early viktor- he has realy intensive dmg on his e and likes some all inns but he might actualy struggle cause his range is lower and his cc less reliable than this of syndra ziggs- is a sige mage but her 100% unreliable when you spam from a far, he might make it but he might just waste too much mana

azir farms with soldiers, he pushes lane and gets ganked, if he goes for poke you all inn him because just like him you stand away from minions while farming, so he needs to walk towards you and you have time to respond azir farms with autos, and you still stand away from eachother, so he needs to walk again to poke you

as the creeps flow he might indeed find you being vulnerable in some moments but usualy will have to make himself vulnerable to exploit it

if he stands under your turret he can jump as much as he wants, your jungler still should get him just because azir has realy long way to safety

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a lot of the champions you listed are poke champions that rely on a level 6 burst to all in.

On top of that, you aren't even certain with three of them.

You are right, Azir can also farm with soldiers, but he can hold onto a soldier, use Q to reposition soldiers, and ward to prevent being ganked. On top of that, if we're waiting till 6 to all in, he has his wall. His dash can take him over the walls in river, I've watched it happen. So unless he's paying no attention at all, not warding, and using all of his skills haphazardly, he still holds the chance of getting away... Without flash. A pretty reliable chance actually.

You are arguing that he is playing like shit, and I'm arguing he's playing perfectly, so let's assume it's somewhere in between. Let's say he's at the tower, has a trinket ward down, and because he's at your tower, he's smart enough to hold onto one charge of his soldiers because he is overextending and the jungler may show up. He can still get away unless his lane opponent or the jungler land a series of CC against him. He has his E, his wall, and flash. Granted, flash being down is a successful gank.

I'm sure he's vulnerable before he picks up his dash, but if he's pushing that early, he's probably going to lose more fights than he wins unless his lane opponent is horrible, but I also don't believe the champions you listed at level 2 can all in him, but I've been wrong before.

You are arguing that he is playing like shit, and I'm arguing he's playing perfectly,

you are arguing that he teleports to his tower by pressing e and is able to both poke you and farm while not wasting his poke nor cooldowns not to mention from outside of his own range

azirs dash has a range, if he overextends even that miight not be enough to stop enemy jungler on top of him being able to body block that dash

it doest matter if azir farms with or without his soldiers (dear god how much do i have to repeat) he needs to come closer to you to poke and that usualy puts him in a spot where you can hit him, and he will lose a trade

you speak like azir can do everything, he cant, his weakness is the fact that he loses trades and his strenght is that he can poke into infinity

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a lot of the champions you listed are poke champions that rely on a level 6 burst to all in.

that tells me a lot about your capability to play mages

anyway if you want to be biased and showe it in my face you can just say it to me, azir like everybody has strenghts and weakneses and i think his weaknesses are exploitable

he's already got a very sub-par early game.

What? Azir wins many lanes.

He's probably the best pick against today's FOTM OP, Ahri.

lolk "mana" and you think having a 6 second rumble ult is balanced why?

his early game is great, but i still think the nerfs are a tiny bit too much.

the Q change is perfect. As his major tool for harass in lane I think dropping the base damage a bit will help a lot. It may even scare him out of toplane since people won't be afraid to eat a Q if they can put some damage on him (which generally means RIP Azir against a lot of top laners).

The W changes scare me. The range reduction seems random and unnecessary, and losing 0.2 scaling on his primary damage ability is massive. I'd like to see them test 0.5 AP scaling before they drop it all the way to 0.4

Abyssphere1 votes

His AP scaling change is only for his W on turrets. It's irrelevant to his damage on actual champs.

I don't get how people complain about Azir being mana dependent when his mana costs just disappear later on. A full rotation is 170 mana and half his damage comes from the free auto-attacks that repeatedly come from the 40 mana W. He doesn't need to be constantly spamming abilities in a team fight at all, so he's very forgiving.

Annie QE costs 180 mana and has to use her abilities whenever they're up, Syndra QEW costs 230 and is the same, Anivia is constantly draining mana, etc. How exactly does Azir have mana problems?

Maybe I can explain why :

The casting range on Azir's W is very short - 450. He can't really drop this ability on an enemy champion during most stages of the game because it will cost him a huge chunk of HP or even his life to walk that close.

So if Azir wants to harass, he has to use both W and Q for 110 mana. If that solider isn't inside the minion wave following his harass combo, that means he's clearing the minion wave with his extremely weak auto attack OR he's dropping another soldier for another 40 mana and a charge.

Now compare this to Orianna as an example. She can shoot her ball out for 50 mana at all ranks. This ability has a fairly short cooldown and deals pretty good damage to the wave. Combined with her auto attacks, Orianna can use her Q once or twice to clear the wave as quickly as Azir for about the same mana.

On the other hand, if Orianna chooses to harass, she can hold onto her W to conserve mana. It's not required that she use it, which is great because it costs a lot of mana! A smart Orianna will simply use her Q for the majority of the lane phase and harass, which allows her to easily conserve her mana for when she needs it.

Furthermore, when harassing someone who isn't standing near the minion wave she still has access to her auto attacks for waveclearing and doesn't really need to expend additional mana to clear the wave at a reasonable speed (or CS easily).

Riot just nerf Azir and Kassadin as soon as possible please, thanks.

SouL1ess1 votes

His soldier's AP ratio is only being nerfed when done against towers.

He is still a great lane bully and most mages cannot reach him to do damage.

And tell me one mage that isn't mana-gated. Brand? Ori? Syndra? Fizz? Who doesn't use mana to harass the enemy champion at mid aside from Zed and possibly Riven?

Azir? Sub-par early? We are playing two different games my friend.
