To be honest, I'm only rooting AGAINST SKT this year.

Electro522··13 votes·1,509 views

I don't even care if another Korean team wins worlds, just anyone else besides SKT.

Yes, yes, I know, they deserve all of it. They win because they are the best. But I've always been the guy who roots for the underdog, and currently, the entire Professional League of Legends scene is an underdog to SKT.

I would just like to see a different team win worlds.

The underdogs better get their game in gear if they want to win. SKT will continue to wipe the floor with everyone else if everyone else doesn't devote the time, energy, and training into the game like SKT does. This is not their fault, and you shouldn't be a dick and root against a team that has the skill to do well. Everyone else needs to come up to their level if they want victory, and it's disgraceful to root against people with skill because you're tired of them winning.

What's wrong with hoping that another team can share the glory of winning worlds? You seem very fascinated by SKT (albeit with good reason) so I must assume your response will be heavily biased. There's nothing wrong with rooting against a team if you have your own personal reason. And I do believe the competitive teams spend a good amount of time working to improve and it's not so exaggerated as you make it seem.

I have no bias either way, but I grow tired of people wishing them ill will just because the other teams can't beat them. That's extremely poor sportsmanship. People should be constructive and root for their teams to win, not maliciously root against the current victor in every regard just because they want them to lose. Letting a team you like know you support them will go a lot further than letting a team you don't like know you don't support them.

Nobody wishes them ill. Nobody said they wanted them to get hurt or have their eyes poked out or anything. They just want them to lose is all. That's not wishing ill upon someone. And your prescribed remedy, wanting some other team to win necessarily includes the condition of wanting SKT to lose anyway. It's just not spoken.

Hm, I see your point. But note the overall message in the original post was "I hope a different team wins worlds" as opposed to "I hope SKT loses."

There's a slight difference in the tone. Now, on the other hand, are there people who despise SKT as you mentioned? Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. But I think most people share the perspective that they just want someone else to have the experience of winning it all rather than "I want these guys to lose."

I just really want SSG to win

If SSG KOs LGZ and THEN SKT it would be great redemption. But SSG has disappointed me this year (although thank god they clutched it vs KT).

100% agree. Idc if was eu, na or some wildcard team even. Any region that makes skt not win AGAIN has my support. Honestly i normally stop watching after groups because if you already know whats going to happen theres no point. its like a horror movie where you know what the plot is already 25 minutes in and can already guess the ending if not every exact detail and who survives the ending will be the same so you just walk out and watch a different one. Usually i only watch a few games then stick with the salty teemo stream its more entertaining and harder to predict

I haven't met a single person who isn't going to be salty if SKT wins for the fourth time. While technically it would make sense since they're the best, it really would be great to see another team (even better if a different region) win this season.

I'd be over the moon if another region wins Worlds.

But, talking realistically here, all other regions have a ways to go before they can catch up to Korea. So, I still do think Korea will win worlds, I'm just hoping it isn't SKT.

I mean, I think even Riot is getting tired of making skins for them. They had to completely rethink everything they do for Worlds skins just for this last batch.

Well, seeing SKT lose to Longzhu was a telltale that SKT might be able to be dethroned and I could never be happier.

This would be the 3rd time that SKT have "fallen off" to some degree in the Summer but still won Worlds.

2015 people were hyped on Koo Tigers, SKT did win the LCK Playoffs but people thought SKT looked "Shaky" and were in the same group with EDG who beat them at MSI, only to win Worlds.

2016 SKT lost to KT in the playoffs, only to have Koo win the Finals and represent LCK as the #1 seed only to have SKT win Worlds.

2017 once again people are believing in another team besides SKT..............

So having LZ beat SKT really means nothing in the long-run when history is already on SKT's side to begin with. As well as Faker playing these 100-0 dmg champions like ( Corki, LB) only to split push 24/7 and not really be in any teamfights had me thinking SKT really wanted to just get as much "notes" on LZ so it's easier to possibly win Worlds, winning LCK for like a 7th time or so is cool and all but to SKT winning Worlds, means more, especially for a 3rd year in a row/4th total.

Ummm all of their fans would not be salty.

And I don't know who you root for, but look at NA and TSM. How many fans they still have everytime.

Stachowiak1 votes

It's called an exaggeration, I'd look it up if I were you.

Maszii1 votes

That's true we havent met.

dont worry they wont win with huni and untara on their top side

Maszii1 votes

They dont have Untara.

xJLx MCHammer1 votes

As dominate as they can be, if they keep winning it just tells you LOL can't seem to attract new pro players

It used to be that your lol career is over after 25. Half the players are over 25 lmao

Stachowiak1 votes

Having the fact that Korea wins again isn't a sign that League can't attract pro-players, it mostly tells you about how we treat professional play in each region. Winners tend to not retire as soon as they can.

My hopes:

  • An NA team makes it semifinals.
  • A Non-Korean team wins. Even though Korea's definitely a leg up, it wouldn't be TOO implausible for LPL or LMS to pull out a pocket pick.
MysterQ1 votes

But SKT is second seed, they are the underdog right.

Hardstuck G41 votes

SKT was the second seed last year, when they were easily the most dominant team in the world [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

What I hope is for any NA team to make it far, hopefully C9 or Immortals (but TSM is fine as well). If that is not possible then yes, I would like for another team to take the cup. I have nothing against SKT, actually I like them alot, but it will be very interesting if another team knocks them out. Ultimately, if SKT make it to finals, I just wish the final game will be entertaining.

Electro5224 votes

This is going to be a VERY unpopular opinion, but, I don't want TSM to succeed.

Don't get me wrong, if they win worlds, Halle-fricken-lujah! NA wins worlds, hooray!

But............at some point, someone has to punch them in the teeth, and teach them some humilty, ESPECIALLY Hauntzer and Doublelift.

Those 2 in particular, with their cockyness and arrogance just makes me shake my head in disappointment. I get it, they're really good at what they do, but there is no need, whatsoever, to rub it in EVERYONE'S faces. Really, the only person who truly has any right to be arrogant on that team is Bjergsen. But, ironically, hes the most humble player on that team.

And, for the love of God, do not get me started on Regi.

(sigh) Sorry, just wanted to get that out.

Edres2 votes

You legit hit it right in the head. That's probably the reason why I am not rooting hard for TSM. It is mostly Doublelift which gives me this stance, but it is also the fans which overhype whatever they do. If they win, I'll respect it. But if they lose, don't expect me to shed a tear.

Stachowiak2 votes

TSM gets their shit kicked in every year though?

JAGL Aqua1 votes

I want to support the underdogs too, trust me but every time I see Faker's face, I know who my heart belongs to.
