NA Fans, I'm Embarassed

How dare you boo SSG in the quarterfinals. Honestly, I'm embarrassed to be in NA right now. Dont get me wrong, I am a passionate TSM fan, I watched every TSM game this spring and summer split. I also like c9 as a team, but really???? I say again, how dare you guys have the guts to boo SSG. I apologize to SSG and everyone in Korea, that was not classy, not cool, and not necessary. No respect.

Even Hai thinks it's disrespectful and impolite. "Regardless of wherever I played, Korea, Europe, etc we always got cheered on. It's just the polite thing to do." - Hai

I'm disgusted embarrassed and so disappointed that the region I live in would go and boo another team for performing better than us. I hope it never happens again.

The video of the booing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwq4F84cmvY

Edit - Even the casters. "I do hope we get some cheers for SSG, good play is to always be respected."

Edit 2 - I think there is a misunderstanding. I am in no way saying we have to cheer for SSG in the sense that we want them to win or we even like them. What I am saying is that it is respectful for one to not put down all the hard work and effort they put into worlds. They beat everyone in their group fair and square, and by being the best. Acknowledge the fact and applaud them because hey, they put in their all for this tournament and it worked out for them. I appreciate you putting in the time and effort so that (sure its so they can win) I can enjoy a good game.

Edit 3 - Even Impact. "Samsung strong today I didn't play good today sorry We played bad but fans boo Samsung I'm Korean too and hope fans can respect them"

Edit 4 - CoreJJ, "I do have good memories of playing at NA LCS, it would be a lot of help it the NA fans could support me."

Edit 5 (Last Edit I swear... xD) - I want to apologize to everyone, some of my replies to you guys were rude and nonconstructive to say the least. I understand that other people have different views and honestly, you guys brought up some great points that I didn't think about. I still think booing SSG was wrong, but I see the validity in the opposing sides view. We'll have to agree to disagree. :) Again, I'm sorry for my hot-headed replies and thank you so much for being such a great community. Honestly, this is like a family to me and even though we disagree and sometimes fight, I still enjoyed all of our little "talks" and hope to have more on a friendlier level. :) Thanks again everyone who commented.

We're embarrassed too, watching C9 play.

I have seen worse, like an NFL player who got booed while getting carted off for an injury.

The crowed cheered for the players and then boo once they finished introducing the ssg team.

Really don't see why this is causing such a shit storm when this is normal in all other sports. Just because someone slapped the letter E in front of e-sports doesn't mean people will drop traditional sports habits. Go look at any other region besides NA and you will find booing there too lol.

No comment on their actions, but I can understand why, as I'm personally sick of Korea winning.

Brasil embarassed south america by boo'ing every team that beats brasil in the Olympic. Chicago embarassed north america by boo'ing korean team that beats TSM and C9 n the WCS.

I understand it seems rude, but you know, so what? This is what competition breeds. The fans of NA are just showing their loyalty to NA in opposition to another region beating them. It comes natural with competition, and what I think is rude, is condemning an entire fan base for showing their support to NA after getting crushed by a dominant performance by a different region.

If I was a baseball player, or football player, or even an esports player. I'd like my fans to make their support clear even in defeat. That would feel really good after losing a big moment like that. When the other team scores a touchdown on your field and the crowd boos them, it's invigorating knowing that the whole stadium is on your side. It would piss me off if the crowd cheered the other team, unless there was some grand historical record being beat.

It's rude sure, but so what? It doesn't mean you don't acknowledge that they played really well. It's just an impulse and I think people oughta grow a spine and get over it. At the end of the day everyone knows that SSG won and that they were the better team and that they played really well to get there. I sincerely doubt that anyone on SSG let it ruin their pride. They got the win.

While I'm not gonna disagree with you, IT IS natural for an american to boo someone on their turf. Watch any professional sport, you won't feel sorry anymore

I'm glad that the overall reaction everywhere seems to be of disapproval about what happened today. I don't think we'll be seeing more of that down the road.

Casters, Monte, Hai, Reddit, Crumbz, here... glad everyone caught up super fast and the situation seems to be heading the right direction.

Everyone is sick and tired of Korea winning every major tournament. Nobody wants SSG or SKT to win outside of their fans. There hasnt been one single worlds since league dropped in Korea that hasnt been Korean dominated.

There's no contest between Korea and the rest of the world, and the Korean style of play is incredibly effective, but so much more boring to watch. Instead of a hard fought victory, its all about micro advantages. A korean win can be about 4 kills up for the victor, but there's some 300+ cs difference between the two teams, and almost all objectives given to the winning team. It's not fun to watch.

This reminds me of Fnatic vs Virtus Pro in csgo... Taz had to go on stage and tell the fans to be respectful it was actually embarrassing.

Embarrassed? Being the Villain is awesome for SSG since they are very likely to play in the finals.

Well they did applaud. Samsung team almost forgetting to bow lol.

In a way, I don't think people boo SSG as much as the natural frustration that, once again, NA is simply not a contender.

We had some GREAT talent this year, but it doesn't end up being enough. The frustration is real, and I have felt it for years. But as the scene gets bigger, more people are going to feel it, and it's going to have some outbursts that our region is viewed as a group.

It doesn't matter that TSM did REALLY well and then imploded one game and got outplayed in another. It doesn't matter that C9 played like poop and got out of groups, they were stomped and everyone predicted they would. It doesn't matter that ANX broke the IWC standard of being an easy team, CLG lost to "no names" and our region is the joke.

HELL, it doesn't matter that #1 Korea (ROX) lost to ANX, that wasn't CLG doing the upset and showing NA is something great.

It just further reinforces the idea that NA has never been, nor will ever apparently be, good enough to be more than a joke.

Season 1, Europe won. Season 2, everyone thought that Moscow 5 was the best and NA teams just needed to do good and try to beat them, and what happened? Asia happened. They dominated everything and Taipei took the crown.

Since then, Korea has demolished every season and so far outclassed every region, and yet, it is NA that has the inferiority complex when the game originates from and American company. How is it that we had the game the longest and never succeeded internationally? Yeah, we took the won Intel Masters in Katowice, but we have historically been viewed as the worst region, period.

So, sure, I can have the class to appreciate great plays. I will probably watch Worlds, but unlike you, I'm not a TSM fan (kinda), I'm a DL fan. I followed him on CLG and to your team. I'm also a Dyrus, Hai, Imp, and aphromoo fan. But guess what? They're out (two retired), so I don't really care. I'm just not behind the teams. I am, however, completely able to understand the frustration of the fans who are. Who root for a team that never wins that always gets overshadowed, and it's frustration will manifest in bitterness and angry hisses. With no NA teams left, I think the crowds will mellow and cheer for everything again. But at the VERY least, I can understand it.

I will say anyone expecting C9 win was kinda crazy. But, I have to say, booing the "villain" isn't the worst thing I've seen. A tad shameful and sad, but not the worst thing I've seen.
