TSM at Worlds

They don't smartly pick/ban. They are too solo carry minded, but don't pick supporting champions for their carry, nor ban the counters. Elsie might not be for this team. If TSM ever wants a win at worlds they need to start getting an idea for how they want to play and draft accordingly, not just for the 'currently strong'. Pocket picks work. Take a lesson from C9 and Origin who have this lesson down. Cater to the opponent not the game. DO SOMETHING WITH LEADS WHEN YOU GET ONE.

lessons to learn/strengthen (imo):

  • Pick for the enemy team
  • Ban counters or pick for them
  • Early leads mean nothing late game
  • Fast wins are the best kind
  • Do not underestimate the strength and the capability to escape or turn a fight of the opponent, and try to fight the uphill battle. At the same time however, do not overestimate it and forefeet the easy kill by playing passively. This allows them to catch-up/ become strong without issue
  • The potential difference in team strength (without kills/assists and assuming equal farm) is an exponentially declining curve where the longer the game goes, the difference is the smallest at level 18 and full items, then at mid game (in my opinion, it is when the average level in the game falls in between 9-15 or around 25-40 minutes) with partially completed builds, and it varies with each champion, and is the greatest at level 1 with starting items since the damage output against the absolute lowest amount of health/armor/MR on the enemy team, is, most likely but not always, the greatest situation for one team to completely overpower the enemy team. So early aggression is sometimes better than late game strategy of "fight for a win by acing the team so they have 60+ second death timers".
  • Although 'Late Game' is inevitable to happen with time, you are not guaranteed to reach it if defeated early on. So rule of thumb is you are guaranteed to have an 'early game' phase, and almost always a 'mid game' phase, but only sometimes a 'late game' phase, so win the 'early game'and 'mid game', don't hope for 'late game'.
  • In the book 'The Art of War', it is said that no one benefits from a long war. TSM has proved this over and over again. Once everyone is 18, full items, and all buffed to the max, then champion skill, vision control, and team communication set determines victory. All points TSM are weak at if behind. So when you have the lead early, press the opponent because you have the advantage.
  • More AOE damage is better than more single target for the group fight you want so much
  • Synergy helps a lot in team fights
  • Buddy system saves lives
  • Push lanes often
  • Take towers when available. Freezing the lane is only good when ahead, so unless you have no vision or desperately need the farm because you are so behind, the objective is better than the easy farm.
  • You cant win unless the Nexus dies or they surrender. Which is more likely?
  • Kills can not produce a win if you cant take objectives, so priorities towers over kills unless it is a guaranteed kill
  • (Might not be the best lesson but..) Make them NEED to camp Bjergsen. If they are always mid, then they are not in the side lanes, so they are safe to farm or push. If this is the plan, then Bjergsen can handle 2v1 (Bjergsen vs mid + JG or SUP) and sometimes 3v2 (Bjergsen + JG or SUP vs mid + Both Jg and SUP) since he is planning around it
  • Gank! Gank! Gank! and Gank some more! Just not as Elise.
  • If you pick second, counter the first pick and then choose the next best champion for your ideal team comp for countering (someone like a support or jungler)
  • If you pick first, Pick your strongest champion, or pick someone who counters the opponent's usual play style. Then last pick the highest available counter (that you have a good mastery of) for the strongest threat from the opponent if possible.
  • Vision is not always worth a death, especially in low kill games, so try and ward safely
  • The teleport summoner spell for mid is almost a necessity now, like heal/ignite/cleanse/barrier was
  • Veigar/Nasus scale indefinitely. So if you are playing for the late game, take one.
  • CC is great. If it is AOE, then it is invaluable.
  • More than one(1) source of wave clear. It can be multiple AP sources but mixed is better since Banner of Command counters AP wave clear.
  • Mix it up a bit, try a 2-4 carry based comp with great AOE cc for a Support (like from Leona, Morgana, Thresh, or Alistar) and a heavy mobility/ganking Jungler champion (like Lee Sin, Vi, or Rek' sai) strategy. Instead of 1-2 carry with short range and where the main front lines tend to go tank heavy. Commonly with small amounts of individual cc or buffing abilities where usually some are not very synergistic with the carrying champions kit, some but not great peal, and/or lacking in mobility with no one to boost them (like Lulu could for xPeke's Anivia).
  • Remember the Summer split quarter finals? Dyrus wrecked on Olaf because the team was built around it, but did not put all their strength in one person. They had Bjergsen carry mid as a double threat Lulu (could deal massive AP damage but still protect the Olaf's engages with her variety of CC), WildTurtle on a Triple threat as Sivir (damage out put is good, wave clear is great, and ult buffs the team, especially Olaf), Santorin on Nidalee as a quad threat (ganks great, has a lot of maneuver ability and threat finding abilities in her javelin and her pounce, and can provide a heal), and Lustboy on Braum as a threat (an ult with AOE CC that has 2 benefits, a passive that slows/stuns with basic attacks, an armor/MR buff for him and another, a shield for most of the incoming damage, and is a tank with a high damage output).

All of these lessons can apply to every player on the team. Though they may vary on importance, they all are concepts to keep in mind. And lastly, as I said, these are all my opinions.

Your poll needs an option for "defeating themselves in champ select"
