The importance of countering cc and debuffs in matches

These items are so useful to winning fights against high CC based teams that it is just wrong not to get them. Alone they provide enough stats to be viable into any build respectively. I cant see why these are not prioritized as early items in the LCS. Watching the TSM game vs NRG, i couldn't help but be annoyed at TSM for not getting these items. NRG was mostly cc based with little for damage. The casters even said that Zilean mid was a support with the gold of a mid laner. TSM just kept getting locked down repeatedly. Doublelift seemed at the end to be building a but he bought everything but a QSS.

Isn't it more important to itemize for the current enemy rather than progress along a predetermined build path which will not be as successful?
