Considering how badly SSB lost to SSW in the semi's... I'm not sure double elimination would have generated a better finals.
Considering that ssw stomped ssb once already, I don't really see this as a solution. Also in a double elimination the winning team will usually start with a 1 game advantage or something extra over the losing side, making the finals already very skewed.
As the tournament progresses, the matches get worse, and the final is the culmination. I don't get how the finalist is the team to offer the LEAST resistance to SSW. The other teams must be kicking themselves for losing to the likes of Corn.
At least Royal had very entertaining games, like the semifinals comeback. Stomps are really bad for the esports in general i feel
