Gnar top counter list:

People complain about gnar top a lot, but he has a good set of counters that completely shut him down. Many people dont even know of these counters, but im here to inform! NOTE: These are picks that are effective at countering gnar that many people don't know of, or use often. Super popular picks like Riven, and Irelia will not appear on this list.

• YASUO: Does extremely well against Gnar. His windwall isn't extremely good at blocking boomerangs since it has a long cooldown. However his passive shield makes up for it, leaving him as one of the best picks to counter gnars constant boomerang spam. Also, being manaless means he can be on par with gnar in terms of sustain overall. If paired with any knockup junglers , he can easily destroy gnar after reaching level 6 in a gank. But even without a jungler with knockups he can still do much better than other melee champions.

• MORGANA: Is not typically played top, however is good in select matchups. Gnar being one of these matchups. Her Tormented Soil can be a great ranged farming tool in fighting gnar Simply lay some soil down, stand far enough away from gnar to dodge his boomerang and exploit your long distance farm. Being a ranged champion allows you to harass, and farm better than melee champions, and gnar typically wont be able to land many auto attacks on you if you abuse your range. And even if Gnar decides to be super aggressive and run past his minion wave, he will be an extremely easy target for a snare, making kiting easy. Your shield can be used to block all of his cc, and he is unlikely to break your shield as he is primarily physical damage. If you see him bounce at you while MegaGnar just shield yourself. His ult, and W will not be able to stun you, leaving you the victor in all trades. Just be careful to watch your mana, and health, as he may be able to out sustain you if you are careless.

• *HEIMERDINGER * Very effective at zone control, and maintaining farm through the boomerang harass. Gnar wont be able to kill all of your turrets and harass you at the same time, so you will have the advantage of farming almost completely free of harass. If gnar manages to catch you, stun him and run, This matchup is all about keeping your distance from gnar. That being said however, zhonya, RQ comboing gnar when he trys to all in you has its benefits. Just place turrets and keep away from gnar unless you are completely sure you can kill him. Gnar excels at ranged harass, and all inning low hp champions. Keep your turrets up to keep him from harassing you, and stay away from him to prevent him from all inning on you. Its relatively easy to outfarm and out carry him in the late game teamfights if he doesn't get kills early.
