I just got promoted today to gold after going from silver 5 to gold in 1 day. I would like to know what makes a gold player climb to plat so i can start working on it for season 5. Any advice would be appreciated. I main zed and i have about 500 games played with him over my career i feel like i have his mechanics very advanced and i own all the champions so i know all their ranges and spells cause ive played them all at one point and i know most all counters. I also understand almost all there is to laning as mid lane for i have watched and read many guides as well as played several thousand mid games.

Mechanics and objective control. Everyone who is below diamond suffers from weak mechanics and poor objective control. Master these two and you can easily make it into diamond.

So does this some it up?

-Have better objective control than the enemy -If im mid try to win the other lanes too -Makes sure my mechanics are better than the enemies -Be moraly supportive and make shot calls

mechanics and u have to learn the other champs u are playing against, zone control. example an adc will have more zone control than a melee champion but note their are special cases for certain champions. learning the champions range and who they are going to aim for is what is going to get you higher in rank. if ur a mid u do not want to stack on top of the adc, u want them to choose either u or the adc not both. theres alot of little things but master them and use ur team mate as bait is what is gonna get u up there

Lots and lots of knowledge, I suggest reading this, as it explains the basics of the laning phase.

I actually think mechanics are often overrated. It's great to make great plays and win your lane, but there's a lot more to winning the game - particularly now with the power of Dragon and Baron.

I made it to plat last season largely because I'm a big team player and shot caller. Stay positive, encourage people, recognize the good plays of your allies - there's much to be said about morale victory. As others are saying, be proactive about objectives, a big portion of which is warding. Also, playing in the mid lane gives you huge early power over the other lanes and junglers. I often go for ganks bottom or offensive plays with my jungler into the enemy jungle (with wards) around level 3 or 4 (playing as Xerath). Basically, as a mid laner you can not only win your lane, but others as well.
