PSA for new junglers

When you are jungling, please smite when the monster appears... don't smite it to kill it... Say you start Gromp, you have your support and ADC help you take it down, but you only smite it at the end. This could leave you with many issues:

A) You don't get your smite bonus for your clears, (e.g. gromp) you're taking free damage and you are not using the Gromp buff to help take it down. B) You could potentially share the exp with your leashers. Usually, when I leash, I fight until 500-600 health is left, if you smite it then after using an ability, you could kill it, with me still around and give me shared exp and you don't get your level 2. Making me the bad guy, because you don't know how smite bonuses works. C) You get your smite earlier for when you take your next big camp. (e.g. Smite gromp, take blue, run to red, hit it until you get low, smite red, get health back, continue jungling no problem) instead, you get (Attack Gromp, smite to kill, take blue, struggle with next camp because you have no smite to help finish it off.)

tl;dr, Please smite at 1:55. Ty

If you do smite at the end ping back to your teammates if they are still around at the end or ask for a hard leash if you're hoping to clear the first camp w/out smite and invade to steal the enemy buff and maybe kill them.

Most importantly, while it is generally best to smite at the beginning of the leash, it is important to not smite at the beginning if a ward drops over the wall to see your camp. You may just have an enemy checking where you're starting to figure out where you might gank first based on your route, but there is a risk they will use the ward to try and snipe the camp (or part of it) at the last second, and in that case you want smite to ensure you get level 2. A support stealing gromp or big krug w/ a shot over the wall can not only set you back letting their jungle put down more pressure on lanes, but also can be a BIG lead for enemy bot lane if they have an engage support who can punish the enemy by hitting 2 early.

I always do that. I dont know why player always wait till the monster to kill kill it with smite. If you think about it your doing the same damage no matter what, but if you smite it you get the buff that will help you clear the camp faster with more health as well.

Also if you smite late the laners in my experience give you a better leash. Also the buff from gromp or crugs stays with you longer for more camps.
