No Such Thing as Elo Hell (tips to ranking up fast)

If you are stuck in bronze, and you say it's not you, it's 99% of the time you that needs to improve. I was once in bronze too and I will say it: I used to be stuck in bronze because I sucked.

I will give you some tips to leave 'elo hell' although such thing does not exist. The tips I am about to give you are simple and easy to apply.

Map awareness

Map awareness is probably the most underrated skill in low elo. Due to a lack of it, you get caught out and you throw games, you miss easy kills and your teammates have to ping you 1000 times so you look at your minimap, and you also die often. Try to look at your minimap often and you might ask how often? My answer is if you realize you are not looking at the minimap, you aren't looking at it enough.

CS'ing

Probably the 2nd most underrated skill in league. Most bronze-low silver players do not know how important it is to CS well and keep up with the enemy laner in CS. When I was in Bronze, I used to say things like, 'kills>>>>>objectives', and now I think about it, I was very foolish and I didn't know any better. Practice your csing and just by csing you can sometimes carry games.

Warding

NO ONE and I mean literally NO ONE buys wards in low elo. I don't mean the free trinket that you just have to right click to purchase in the beginning of the game, but I mean the green wards, pinks, and 250g upgraded yellow trinket. Warding will help prevent ganks, make plays that are otherwise not possible due to a fear of getting ganked, and help your teammtes.

Mechanics

1v1 mechanics are very important in low elo, and I believe you can leave bronze just by having some mechanics. Practice 1v1'ing with your friends or just play ranked and try to better your mechanics.

Communication

Communicating during champ select and sometimes giving up your best lane to win the game is very important. Sometimes things like double adc's, duo mid lane happen due to a lack of communication.

Encouragement

DO NOT BE TOXIC PERIOD. If you are toxic to whoever is doing poorly and you do not encourage them, the chances are they will start doing worse. They might afk, rq, and even intentionally feed ALL because you could not shut up about their mistakes.

Be nice to people and have fun guys :D

Good, basic and credible tips. I always say don't worry about losing; worry about playing your best and improving your game play. It is so easy to blame your team, but just don't. If you change the way you think so the focus is on YOURSELF and not the top/bot lane whose feeding, you will learn more each game and overall improve faster. It is true that mechanics can carry bronze so hard, but at the end of the day game knowledge and decision making will carry you further than mechanics will.

When people say elo hell and bad teams it is usually one thing. They have played a lot of ranked games with a couple big losing streaks (which will happen to everyone) which puts their hidden MMR a lot lower than their current League. This happens a lot in the 5 brackets because they can't de rank from gold 5 to silver 1 (easily, at least) and they are matched with all silvers instead of gold 5s or higher. Which means their team mates will seem worse and lose more LP than they gain.

It matches you with like players all around, so you are likely to get people losing a lot of games recently if you are as well. Same goes for when you are climbing fast. I went on an 11 game win streak in ranked followed by 2 losses and 7 more wins. I literally felt the opposite of elo hell, like my team mates were gods. If I lost a game it was almost solely because of me feeding lane, getting caught and being terrible in team fights.

ELO hell isn't bronze as a whole, its the hole people dig themselves into when they jump straight to ranked. took me 3 seasons of roughly a 52% winrate to finally get my MMR from like 500 to 650. as soon as it passed 650, matches became extremely easy as long as people worked together.

still good tips though, if everyone implemented them it would make for a much better game, where you don't take nexus in 21 minutes one game then have a 1-22 yasuo mid the next.

Teach me senpai. I'm always losing and winning thus staying at 39 LP :c

When i play like this, get 200 Cs at 20 mins I deserve higher. (2nd most wards, non support. Most objectives, and dmg delt.) http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1836437797/202671008?tab=overview http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1834538450/202671008?tab=overview

When i play like this: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1834486865/202671008?tab=overview http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1828152242/202671008?tab=overview

I deserve to go down a division.

The fact of the matter is, if you're not the MVP game after game, you don't deserve to move up to better opponents, You deserve to stay where you can maintain.

for me, it was always bronze 5 until i picked up the slack on a smurf and carried myself to silver 5. (Did bot games to 30.)

This is some of the best advice for people like me in low elo (Bronze 3 atm), i try to play at my best when playing and this helped. Thanks

I say this for every thread mechanics or game knowledge alone can get you to gold, you dont need much of these until then

What about climbing as a support? I like to 'fill' in Champion Select and that has more often than not put me in that role. I tend to help us win bot, but then the rest of the game is pure pain to deal with. I ward, I keep timers, and give little GJs to my ADC, but we always fall short. Supporting seems so much easier in teambuilder. :/

No man, delete everything you said in OP and replace it with "Play Sion"

Just kidding.

But Sion is op af

STORY TIME

Literally almost (yes, fucking almost. I can't force my team not to go into the jungle and 4v5 while I'm farming, while telling them they should farm as well) carried us out of a game where Jinx actually got legendary before the 15 minute mark. No joke. I suppose that's what happens when you get a Vayne for an ADC, and a Braum thinking his shield blocks thresh hooks....bronze of course. When I came down I managed to lock down Jinx, and then we managed to pull off some nice 5v5 team fights with me diving jinx while Braum peeled. I'm sure the other team was just getting too cocky, and playing stupid, but it still felt so good to come so close....

"Enemy double kill!" "Enemy triple kill!" "Enemy QUADRA KILL!"

;_;

Good tips. In my opinion though, there is an "elo hell". Its that point in any division (bronze,silver,gold,etc..) where you get stuck in a fluctuating amount of W/L based on your own MMR and riot attempting to match you with better players when you are not quite ready for it. My own experience of this was last season in Bronze 1, and this season in Silver 4/3. Currently I am able to play really good games with map awareness, smart plays, GOOD TEAMS(a key part, since riots matchmaking will sometimes stick you with toxic duos for no reason who have a 100-150 mmr difference) and the ability to gank other lanes from where I am(top/mid normally) . Then you get those games where its just bad teams that refuse to work with your pings, you asking em to stop being toxic and work together, etc... Elo hell is a very real thing, but its both a mental thing (you assuming youre in elo hell so blaming your teammates instead of looking at what YOU could do better) as well as a matchmaking thing(where you CAN make good plays and assist cross map but your team is so outmatched by the enemy/your team argues a shit load, to the point where no matter how much YOU do it cant be won).

If you read this <3

I like it. One of the plainest, simplest post I have seen on this subject. These points, if implemented, will improve your play.

Shhhhh Don't tell them that I always get paired against idiots who don't CS. :3
