Winning More than 50% of Your Games (Simple Tips for Both SoloQ and Normals)

Part 1

**Winning Your Laning Phase **

Just because there are games in which you won despite having lost the laning phase does not mean you do not have to win your laning phase. Wherever you are, whether it be top, bot, mid, or even jg, if you get more kills, cs, put more pressure, and etc.., more often than not, you will win the game.

Taking Advantage of Your Lead

I see way too many people getting fed and throwing it so hard that the sight of it is quiet depressing. I would see a fiora go 5/0 the first 20 mins and ending the game with 7/7. When you are ahead, generally, you should roam often and put a lot of pressure everywhere in the map. For mid lane, you should be ganking top and bot. For top lane, you should be ganking mid and tp'ing bot. For bot lane, you should be taking control of the dragon and grouping mid early to get the mid tower (if it's not taken yet ofc).

Well, what do I do if I cannot gank because all my teammates are pushing their lanes?

If that is the case, I suggest stomping on your enemy laner even more, taking the 1st tower, diving either top or bot with the jungler (only if you know you guys are strong/tanky enough), farming jungle (yours or the enemy's depending on how confident you are :p), or doing dragon.

Part 2

Going for Objectives

Oftentimes when I play Zed or Riven or any champion and get fed, I can 1v2 the enemy players. When I can do that, I like to try and take the 2nd tower (tower in front of the inhib tower) and split push. Going for kills is awesome and all, but if you really want to win SoloQ ranked games, you should be going for objectives. The early objectives include cs, kills, towers, and dragon, and late game objectives inclucde towers, inhibs, dragons, barons, and nexus.

Part 3

Map Awareness and Warding

You might think how is that important in winning games? Trust me, we all had those games in which the winning players threw very hard by facechecking bushes, not warding, and or getting caught.

General Rule of thumb: if you think you might die wherever you plan on going, don't go there. Exception to that rule: if the risk is worth it, YOLO it and go for it :D

FREQUENTLY check your minimap and you will not only be loved by your teammates, but you will also start winning more of your games.

Part 4

Communication

Communicating with your teammates during both the champ select and in-game will help you make better decisions. Especially while you are playing, pinging helps prevent players from making dumb plays, and chatting with them when you can (plan for next move i.e. should we do dragon first or should we do baron while they are busy doing dragon) will help a lot.

Part 5

Experience

When it comes to winning games, there is nothing more important than experience. My tips should help you and the will most likely help you win more games, but nothing beats knowing what to do ** EVERY MINUTE**.

Players like DOPA (Kordopa on korean server, currently rank 2, and also a former rank 1 on chinese server with a 70+% win rate) and Faker (STK T1 Faker on korean server, former rank 1 be4 he started ranking up his smurf: hide on bush) are 2 of the greatest players IMO although not many people know DOPA as well as they do Faker.

Those players seem to know what to do every minute of the game. And that is due to many years of playing league, and hence experience.

In Closing

I apologize if I missed anything important and if I did, please feel free to add anything you think is important in winning more games than you lose.

And as always, good luck and have fun :D

The best advice I can give for winning games in SoloQ is to echo Stonewall008:

"The golden rule of SoloQ is this: Everyone is drowning, and you have to climb the dead bodies of your teammates to avoid doing so. You can not rely on your teammates to not suck and die. You can't expect your teammates to pick something that supports your champion choice, or counters the enemy picks."

Basically you have to go into every ranked game expecting your team to be garbage, and you will have to carry them to victory singlehandedly. Assume that they're only at the same MMR as you because someone boosted them. If it was possible for every other role in the game to give first blood to the enemy, expect your team to find a way. In fact, don't even think of your teammates as four humans, but instead as four monkeys in a laboratory somewhere that get rewarded a cupcake every time they see a grey screen.

Go tryhard. Don't rely on your allies to carry you, but rely on yourself to carry your allies. Even if you're support. That way, if you have other players on your team who do well, it's a pleasant surprise.

This is good advice. I'll try to apply it next game and see how it goes. Thanks a heap.

I think the second point ties into what to do if you can't gank. Personally (although it might be the champ that I play most), I like pushing hard and making multiple people come to my lane. If I'm top and push to second tower and know I can dive my lane opponent then I just need good wards in their jungle to know we are getting something w/out me ever roaming. If mid/jungle or both come top to stop me, I see them on wards and back up, while my mid and jungle can take drag or dive bot lane safely knowing that 3 enemies are top. If the enemy mid and jungle go down to dragon to contest bc they saw my team start it, then I can dive top lane, kill them and take the second tier turret.

Map pressure is the most important thing to winning a game early/mid game, and you can get that by roaming, but also by split pushing, jungle invades, or taking dragon w/ the jungle while your lane is pushed/or your opponent in lane is based or dead.
