Masteries that you should never use

Here are some masteries that you should not use.

1:runic blessing: This mastery gives you a shield that blocks 40 damage and only comes back after you die. You literally have to die to get a shield that blocks half the damage of one auto attack. Never get this mastery under any circumstance.

2: warlord: with 3 mastery points, you get 3% bonus ad. Most glass cannon ad champs end up with 350 ad at full build, that means this mastery will give you 10.5 bonus ad at full build! Useless mastery.

3: legendary guardian: this mastery gives you .5 mr and 1 armor for each champion in a certain range. In a 5v5 team fight, this will give you 10 armor and 5 mr. Another worthless mastery.

4: spellblade. This mastery causes your auto attacks to deal bonus dmg equal to 5% of your ap. First of all 5% is not a lot, second of all, YOU DONT AUTO ATTACK ON A MAGE.

5: I forgot what this mastery was called. A mastery in the utility tree that increases trinket cast range by 15%. I can't think of a time where this would be useful.

"If I don't use these masteries what should I use the mastery points on?" Some good masteries include feast, blade/spell weaving, tenacious, dangerous game, culinary mastery, fleet of foot, frenzy, juggernaut, and sorcery.

If I left out some other useless masteries, tell me in the comments section.

lol. Mages auto attack all the time. You can't cast your abilities constantly, they do have a mana cost and cooldown.

Warlord gives 5%. Thus it's actually 17 AD at full build Legendary Guardian gives 4 armor and 2 MR per champion at max level. That's 20 armor and 10 magic resist

Spellblade is good for AP champs that do autoattack, like Kayle and Teemo, or for AP champs that apply on-hit effects (like AP Ezreal, Fizz, Evelynn). This gives them better scaling. With AP Evelynn, you can give her E an extra 10% to it's ratio by taking spellblade, or in AP Warwick's case, his ult gets 25% more AP ratio. That is not small.

1 and 5 do totally suck

Warlord is 5% bonus AD at three points, not 3%.

Legendary Guardian will give +4 Armor and +2 MR for each enemy champion at 4 points, which is 20 Armor and 10 MR in teamfights. I'm not even sure how you did the math for this one since you listed the value for one point and made the teamfight values based on two points.

Spellblade is useful since it's one point for better autoattack harass, better last hitting, and scales through the game. Mages do typically have cooldowns, so having a bit of extra damage added to their autoattacks can be useful. And that isn't even including the mages which naturally want to autoattack enemies due to their kits (Twisted Fate, Diana, Orianna, Kayle, Teemo, Fizz, etc).

Runic Blessing is a shield for 50 health, not 40. I'm not going to argue that this mastery is good, but you could at least get the valuation correct if you are going to talk about it.

If you are going to say why certain masteries are bad, you should at least make sure you know what the masteries do and list the correct values. If you can't do something that simple, it tends to make people doubt your other arguments regardless of whether or not they are valid.

What about Spellblade when using Twisted Fate?

Late game < starting to max Stacked Deck ( +10/15/20/20/30 attack speed and 55/80/ 105/130/155 + 50% AP every 4th basic attack ) < get Nashor's Tooth < now doing 20% AP with every basic attack with +80% attack speed and bonus damage every 4th auto, +85% attack speed if you chose the attack speed mastery over cooldown.

Answer me that please. :3

Um, There are quite a few mages that auto attack. I agree 5% is not a lot, and on some AP glass cannon champs it's pretty bad... but for other champs it's not. There are quite a few champs that make VERY good use of this. Not going to list every one but you can scroll through every AP champ and look at their passives.

This has been incredibly useful when trying to ward over walls. The increased is VERY noticeable when you go back to playing without this mastery. For supports, being able to ward a bush from further away is awesome.

The trinket range mastery is very useful for a support trying not to get too close to the bush.Janna
