What if we moved the clown fiesta to top lane

Currently, getting your bot double killed, tower taken, and dragon taken feels pretty bad and snowballs games hard. What if we increased tower fortifications bot lane and removed them top lane. This would alleviate pressure bot lane by making it harder to instantly take tower after a good gank, meaning the game wouldn't snowball as hard off of a losing bot. Top lane would also become less of an island, meaning it would be more fun to watch LCS (cuz riot loves the LCS).

Although one may say moving the clown fiesta top lane would solve nothing and junglers would just camp top, think about the trade offs.

  1. Top lane does not have a dragon, meaning there is nothing to take after a gank (rift herald is basically impossible to kill pre- 18 mins)

  2. It is harder to take a tower with fewer people, even with fewer resistances on the tower.

Thoughts?

Edit: Also, top laners are generally tanky, so even if they do snowball, they will not be able to solo carry the game like a Caitlyn or a vayne.

Keep that fiesta down there. -A toplane main.

If they do this, people will just start playing the ADC and the support top and swap after taking the first tower. Also LCS will be the same farm fest.

When I am top lane, which isn't often, one thing I have noticed is how easy it is to kill the enemy's turret. They roam bot, we get first tower blood because I can kill the thing in one minion wave and nobody on the enemy team is around to stop it.

If the top turrets had less effective health then there wouldn't even be a chance for the top laners to roam at all until after their first turret fell, meaning it would be more of an island than it already is.

you're aware that this first blood tower thing combined with botlane towers easier to kill is to prevent lane swap in LCS?

if you do what riot did botlane to the top lane people are going adc+support top

and then the clone fiesta goes to adc+sup lane no mattter what

We toplaners want to be left alone tho.

OP has clearly never seen a fed Darius with four tank items and Black Cleaver barreling into their carries at 500 MS and 100 to 0ing them in 2-3 seconds.

I mean, top lane is already pretty fiesta like. Enemy jungler ganks you once, and if youre forced to back they take tower. This is at 8 minutes.

Make the Rift Herald better and make drakes scale harder instead of being a huge early-game priority. Remove tower first blood and make them tougher all around, but change fortification to top like you said.

Still the long lane which means your duo could get ganked even harder if they go top but still great for solo laners.

Take turret and risk Rift Herald if you have strong early champs, or take turret and back off for dragon.

I think that's an interesting idea, though it might lead to a meta where lanebullies with strong synergiesing earlygame junglers get picked, leading to a splitpushing snowball fest toplane with picks like jayce and kennen 100% pick/ban.

Another possible outcome would be dulane top and sololane bot as meta, which would be awsome, sololaners wouldn't be on an island as they now are near dragon, while the duo stays an imprtant factor because of the first tower blood, beeing two people, and adc still beeing the class that you want to get the most resources. It would create more strategic diversity between focusing on the dulane or the sololane+dragon.

Why do we move the clown fiesta to mid lane??? Top lane already had it's time :(

Or does no one else remember lane swaps and the era of 50 cs top laners at 20 minutes?

Sukishoo12/28/2016, 4:35:01 PM2 votes

What if we stopped using these stupid terms already?

xBushx12/28/2016, 6:51:01 PM2 votes

BUT are we forgetting why the meta was instilled with 2 bot was to control dragon....

You must have forgotten the lane swap meta then. This change was implemented so specifically counter that.

Critmaster Garen12/29/2016, 5:15:56 AM2 votes

how about just removing turret first blood?

Mogarl12/29/2016, 6:05:40 AM2 votes

Maybe too add into this, make the outer top tower give a buff to a solo laner if multiple enemies are nearby. Just so that they have a chance of defending the tower when bot swaps top.

Please move clown fiesta to toplane. I am tired of the 4 man annihilation

It would make more sense from a numbers standpoint.

If the bot lane gets clowned: 2 kills for the enemy team 1 tower 1 dragon Your hard carry is fucked

If the top lane gets clowned: 1 kill for the enemy team 1 tower Your tank(y) ally is fucked

Top lane getting smacked around is the better of the two if your team is on the receiving end. There's less kills for the other team, your carry is still intact, and most people forget Rift Herald exists because dragons get better the more of them you grab.

Unfortunately, this is also the reason why there aren't clown fiestas in the top lane; it's just not worth it. Oh wow, you beat down the enemy Malphite. Now he'll still ult into your team, still initiate like a god, and then get killed a full second shorter than he normally would. All that work keeping him underfed did almost nothing in the end.

That's why bot lane has such a target painted on it right now. Marksmen have more impact than ever before on the game since assassins got reworked to have counterplay and tanks have to dive deep into the weakest of the three mastery trees to grab CoC. In addition, the best non-tower objective sits right nearby, just asking to be another stack on the dragon carcass pile.

Control the bottom half of the map, and you control who wins the game. Simple as that.

Stephenizgod12/29/2016, 9:47:15 PM1 votes

Bad idea pal

4v2 you can both focus the person tanking the turret shot. 1 person has damage, the other has sustain to keep up that damage or CC to lock someone down under turret. It is not ideal obviously, but there is a higher chance to kill someone or maybe even 2 people. Not to mention if your team if the one who pulls it off, you set back their most valuable late game champion as well as control Dragon, one of the most valuable snowballing objectives.

1v3, you are dead. You don't have really anything to fight back against 3 people and since most Top laners are generally tanky, they can tank a couple turret shots before having to juggle which means even focusing the person tanking will accomplish little. If it is your team doing the 3v1, you get one kill and a turret, meanwhile your bot is left completely open to ganks and you will still lose more than you gained.

It is just not ideal in any circumstances to be top lane while there is a dragon and potential snowballing of the most powerful role, Marksmen.
