Since riot wants clarity....
UPDATE THE DEATH RECAP. IT IS SO INNACURATE THAT IT IS FUNNY.
UPDATE THE DEATH RECAP. IT IS SO INNACURATE THAT IT IS FUNNY.
But if they update how would I ever know how much damage {{summoner:10}} does
revive is so op. One time it did 680 magic dmg.nerf plz.
Death recap has been unreliable garbage pretty much since it's birth, the fact that it has never been fixed leads me to believe that simply, they don't know how to fix it.
They've just never bothered to fix it as it's not that important. Honestly, they should just remove it.
I think it's pretty important to some of the player base. If you're new to the game and don't understand why you're dying, the death recap could provide a tip "You took X Magic Damage. You might want to consider building MR". An adaptive system like that could be really cool.
And then there are some people, like me, who just likes numbers and graphs.
Somehow their system is completely confused. I think the problem is that it's currently set up on a legacy system that they don't really want to spend the time to update it.
I think they should either just scrap it and start again with it or scrap it for good. It's currently more confusing than it is helpful.
I wouldn't say since it's birth. I play since the very early days of LoL and it actually used to show you the 3 targets that did most damage to you. Now it shows the 3 latest damage sources which is stupid.
Here I'll show you the same fight with both methods
Before:
X
did 800 dmg (details on damage sources)
Y
(killer) did 550 dmg (details on damage sources)
Z
did 1650 dmg (details on damage sources)
Currently:
X (ranged caster minion) did 53 dmg (details on damage sources)
Y
(killer) did 550 dmg (details on damage sources)
Z (melee caster minion) did 22 dmg (details on damage sources)
Conclusion:
You used to get information about what killed you and what type of damage it was, so you can itemize against it.
In the first example we see that
and
did most of the damage and in the details we would be able to see that it was mostly physical damage except for Annies Tibbers which dealt the killing blow
In the second example we can see that Annie killed us with Tibbers, but we have no idea whatsoever where the other 2500~ damage came from, and what type of damage it was.
It's been like this for a while now and I don't know why they don't revert it.
The only flaw the old system had was that sometimes it showed you a damage source that happened 20~ seconds earlier, if it was lots of dmg, but I'd take that any day over the new system
yeah i like death recap but seriously {{summoner:10}} doing damage???
I don't see a reason why death recap can't be accurate. Is it really that hard to fix? What if the damage ratios are dynamic and change randomly to keep the game interesting. Then they wouldn't be able to show you the real damage because they are lying as to how much damage is being dealt.
I thought this was about![]()
I watched my brother play DawnGate when it was around, and he explained that their death recap was so much better than League's because it provided every single damage that you were hit by, also providing a handy chart. Maybe League of Legends should think of something like that, at which it puts graphs to let you know what type of damage you were hit by instead of what you were hit with. To be honest, I dont care who did the damage, I just want to know type of damage killed me.

Dawngate had a brilliant death recap that was simple to follow, may that game rest in peace
They should also enable you to look at the death recaps in the Summoner Profile > Match history
I never thought about that, that sounds like a perfect idea.
Well then upvote ;)

I don't have a quote, but I think one of the Reds talked about it being on some old code, as well as being not very high on the priority list.
Old code my ass.. They are numbers at the end of the equations. Besides it not like the data isn't kept how do we not keep the damage done/taken recap at the end of matches.
I understand if it is not highest on the priority list but it has been 5 years. 5 years of a terrible death recap. You would think they would look at it a little bit. It would be useful if it wasn't terrible :(.
Riot doesn't tell us what they want.
They tell us what we want to hear.
It's called PR.
If you were running for President and were going to increase taxes, reduce funding to school systems, and raise property value over your 4 years in office.
Would you openly state that? No. You'd give the public what they want to hear.
I once took 34903 from blue caster minion. It was the only thing on the death recap, and it was just under assist, I had no killer
i learn a lot from the death recap .... the damage types especially
I thought this thread was about deathcap... I was extremely confused.
if they posted recap like this :
350 damage physical - 200-10 = 190 armor (66% reduction) = 115
350 damage physical - 200-10-4% = 182 armor (65% reduction) = 122.5
etc..
would add more example but you understand
My guess is they don't want us to see these numbers.
Died against a katarina today 2050 dmg 0.27 seconds
