Orianna is the hardest champ I've ever played....
It doesn't help that I have been getting 15-20 fps, but damn..... she is hard. So any tips on what I should build and how I should play would be great.

I am by no means a hi-ranked player, but I've played her in ARAM quite a few times. Here are some pointers I can offer:
1)** Her ball placement is key. **Understanding the length of time for it to move is key to creating good combo plays. Note that using her E to shield another champ actually makes the ball move faster than using her Q. Also, if you get out of a specific range, it will automatically come back to you. Becoming knowledgable of the ball and its travel time and distance limits are really important to making good plays. Being able to attack from a distance can be a huge advantage for her.
**Shielding another unit that's more tanky than you is a great way to bring your ball into play to get kills and assists. **An awesome team I played recently had Shaco on their team. Ori shielded Shaco's double and he guided that into a team fight to ult all five of us. Very cool play.
Use her W to not only attack the other team but also** speed up your own team**.
Items: As of the most recent patch, I can't recommend Chalice at this time since the mana regen isn't as good. Morellonomicon and Tear are good for getting mana and CDR. From there, it depends on if you want a full AP build or more CDR so you can spam abilities more readily.
Hope this helps you out a bit and you hear from other players. Best wishes! NintenMoney :)
Double morrello's is good, it's really cost effecient so it is worth the buy.
Quick Cast and Alt targeting.
An Athene's Unholy Grail
is another strong item that you could rush first, the recent buff to Chalice is very beneficial on most if not all AP and Caster champions. And Orianna is really a farm heavy lane champion, and is really most useful for zoning during objectives and landing a two or three or more man shockwave to turn a fight or interrupt something from the enemies.
If nothing else, just figure out where the ball should go and what champion you should shield during an engage so they can jump in and you can follow up with a big shockwave you basically win the fight right there.
Having a team mate carry your ball makes life so much easier Especially tanks and divers that will auto go into danger zones for you with no cooldown
my biggest tip for laning as Orianna
Orianna was my first dedicated mid. I'm not amazing by any means, but she's my most played mage at this point. Think of her like this: When playing Orianna you actually have two champs to manage-- Orianna and her ball.
Orianna should stay back and last hit with her empowered AAs, harassing the enemy with them when convenient. Ball should be used to zone and protect Ori. It's basically like bringing your own support to mid lane. Zone the enemy from CS with Attack, use Dissonance to slow a ganking jungler and GTFO with MS boost, shield yourself with Protect if in a straight up slug match until your abilities come back up. Never completely deplete your mana pool if you can help it. Get blue when your jungler allows.
In teamfights, use Protect to provide shields to allies as needed, and as others have mentioned, giving a tanky initiator the ball can lead to crazy wombo combos. Dissonance provides teamwide AoE slows for the enemy and boosts for you, of course you really want to land QW combos, something which quickcast will help with immensely. One way to maximize damage is to get the damage component of Protect, which can be difficult and requires passing the ball through enemies. When enemies are clumped, aim for the back line with QW, E the ball to your initiator and ult if and when they go in. You just dumped your full combo onto a team.
Orianna has no escape per se, but she is still a pretty safe laner. Get used to using her ball to protect you and you'll soon grow more comfortable with glasscannon builds. Between the shield and resistances on Protect she can be deceptively tanky.
She's not hard at all, she is strong and easy to learn with a high skill cap. Tips for escaping:W yourself. Also, never facecheck a brush, always send your ball in first, it wards an area while it is there. there's really not much to her.
i used to main orianna but recently i've switched over to ahri in mid. the mana cost changes were not kind to orianna :[
my tip for orianna would be to farm out. you do really piss poor damage early on but your 3 item powerspike is ridiculous. You will deal 70% of an ADCs health with a single Q-W combo after you get your hat, so just farm and help control objectives and look for teamfights where you can be useful. don't go around trying to 1v1 people and assassinate carries because you'll get dumpstered most of the time.
