Stay Positive and Don't GIve Up

I played Irelia mid yesterday and the game started off pretty poorly. Our jungle Diana was having a terrible time and being super toxic to everyone on our team. At one point our diana split mid mid in an attempt to back door. Taking the mid inhibitor and rushing on to their nexus. However, she was unable to take the inhibitor (she did alleviate a lot of the pressure the enemy team was applying to us and this was a key part in our winning the game... keep this in mind), so when I respawned I rushed through our jungle leaving our team to defend against the super minion waves and I jumped on their nexus. But like Diana I was not quite able to destroy it. We went back and forth for a while me trying to back door their nexus and the enemy team trying to retake our inhibitors. After one of my failed attempts the enemy nasus, nunu, and blitzcrank killed our diana, kennen, and draven, leaving morgana to defend (their lucian also died). She died shortly after our first nexus tower fell, and once again Diana started saying we lost, and we all sucked, and so on (at this point my team was sick of her), but morgana was able to stall just long enough for me to respawn. Both Blitz and Nasus were at half health and I killed Blitz just as they started attacking our second nexus turret fell. I killed Nasus just after our second nexus turret fell, and killed nun when he was 2 auto attacks from taking our nexus. After this Diana and I suicided a couple times trying to back door their inhib which got it low enough for our draven to back door winning us the game.

Don't give up: Diana started many surrender votes and said the game was over and we lost many times. The rest of our team refused to listen to her and we managed to pull out a win.

Stay Positive: Remember when Diana first attempted to back door and this played a vital role in our win. Well in the after game chat my team was telling me I was MvP and how good I was and such (mostly for saving our nexus in a 1v3) and Diana brought up that her back door played a key part in our win, but the rest of my team just told her she sucked and brushed her off. The reason for this is because she was so negative the entire game. Why give someone credit or acknowledge they did well when they were blaming everyone else for what they thought would be a loss.

Don't give up and you'll win more games, and stay positive and you'll get recognition for your plays and thanks for the good game.

I've come back to win games that were over more times than I can count on both hands. I remember there was a game that I played recently, where I had given up. I was still playing and participating, but I wasn't giving it everything I had, and was voting to surrender as often as I could. It was like 45 minutes in, all three of our Inhibs were down, we had a 15k gold disadvantage, and mid pushed up to their inhib tower. Coming back to win seemed pretty impossible.

The enemy team made a huge mistake engaging Baron with 4 people up, and without clearing wards. We saw what they were doing and rushed over. We stole Baron, insta-gibbed the carry, and then got the ace with only one death. We rushed mid tower and finished off the Nexus before they had everyone back up. All of this happened in just over a minute, it was insane. I stared at my computer with my jaw on the floor for like 5 minutes before I did a victory dance. It was an incredible reminder to never give up.

I disagree 100% with this post, that's simply not how things work. The reason most people surrender and are negative is not because they're losing the game, it's because of the way the team plays the game when they're losing. People try to surrender and are negative because it's simply not fun to try and win a completely lost game by yourself. I remember this one game where we were losing really hard, and I kept thinking to myself "It's ok, we'll win this... we can still turn around". Then, at some point as I'm trying to protect our nexus turrets from the enemy super minions I can't help but think "I can't protect this on my own... why isn't the rest of my team with me trying to kill all these minions?". As I look at the minimap I see the adc and the support in our jungle killing the golems, our mid lane wondering around the jungle too, and the jungler was dead I think.

How am I supposed to stay positive and not give up ? We have super minions in our base destroying our turrets and the 3 members of the team beside me go kill the jungle monsters?! Like I said, it's simply not like this post puts it. It's impossible to stay positive and not trying to surrender when the rest of your team is composed by 3 potatoes who can't even tie their shoes.

Some people give up to avoid being toxic to their team. When their team doesn't want to let that player leave, that situation turna worse as that player is probably on tilt. Riot has clearly made the game not about winning but rather about not getting upset at people. Keep in mind, not giving up might cause someone on edge to fall off and start yelling

Probably one of my favorite matches ever. A total, unrelenting bloodbath that looked absolutely doomed for my team more than once, and things looked exceedingly bleak at the 32 minute mark. But then we rallied, I split-pushed the bot lane hard as I could to open up a second front, and we won with a whopping one tower left to our name.

Believe, people. BELIEVE!

I'm surprised too by how fast people in this server surrender. I'm from ph btw, my home server is thousand times more toxic than NA though.

But to me, that diana just sounds like tired of having teammates lose their lanes.

My suggestion to everyone is please play better. If you can't win lane at least don't frickin feed.

I dunno. Since the changes to the way structures work I haven't had a comeback game yet. Seems like whichever team loses an inhibitor first loses the game no matter what.

Not sure what it is, but it just seems like after that one is down, whichever team destroyed it gets 2 jungles free dragon/Baron or free kills since you'd have to 4v5 them, or rush which usually leads to someone getting caught out.

This is speaking from defending AND assaulting sides. Had games we won cuz of it. Had games I've lost cuz of it.

This post is fucking stupid. It doesn't matter how much experience or skill you have; champions kits are blatantly overpowered. Even if you know what you should do against a particular champion, it doesn't matter because their kit is overpowered. For instance, Ahri. I fought her just now; I went in knowing exactly how I would fight her and what she would be doing. Guess how the game went? I ended 1 and 7. My 1 kill was a suicide for a support. No matter how hard you try you are going to lose unless you are one very fucking lucky person. This game requires nothing but a group of people with strangely good luck; nothing more. Anyone that says "just keep practicing and try to get better and be positive" is fucking full of themselves. It isn't about being positive or having experience or being good. It is all about luck, and that is how it always will be. Fuck riot.

Half the games are lost in champ select with horribad comps and enemy teams that have 2 to 3 players that should've been banned

lol no I'd rather save 30 minutes in a game I may or not win and start the next one.

I am mostly never giving up. once we won game with one intentionally feeding player who was all "we cannot win this, i am gonna feed", but he changed his mind after we showed him that all is not lost. It was overwhelming victory after that.

Knowing this it makes me hella angry when I have games like yesterday when having three late champs (Kog, Cass and Sion) two of them decide that we cannot win this and start voting surrender in 25 mins of the game. And later going AFK.

But then there are games when you know that you could win but still rather surrender because you just dont want to play with that kind of teammates. You know, these games that just suck every bit of energy and will from you. (though I would never surrender Ranked. There is always hope of power cut or meteorite impact)

There are times when pulling through that win is just too painful to do. Like when we manage to snag baron and half their team and Jinx decides to recall instead of push top with me (Leona) probably in fear of the stray fed Yasuo that had survived and which we spotted nearby.

We could definatively have taken Yasuo and at least one inhib with the super minions, but as tank Leona there was really nothing I could do on my own.

My team was unresponsive as heck, no co-ordinated grouping of ny kind and while we still won in the end, we did not deserve to nd the enemy should've won 10-15 minutes before we did.

The games when you win lane hard but don't manage to snowball out of it because Darius lost his lane hard and Yasuo is now fed, and the Darius refuses to group mid because of his lag, so we're losing mid to them and no one finds a response, they won't group for dragon after a clean double kill bot or anything.

Winning a game you feel like you lost 25 minutes ago isn't fun. When you get Baron but don't manage to make any use of it, then you're certain you didn't deserve that game.

That's when you wish your team had surrendered at 35.

Because some wins are too exhausting to pull through, and doesn't feel rewarding enough.

I'm going to give a different example, and tell you to surrender when the game becomes unwinnable. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1691110487/49620597?tab=overview

I was forced to jungle (which I hate now ever since the season changes, because I don't have the hang of it still), the morgana was against a fiora, garen against a lee sin, and trist/blitz vs ashe/alistar. I was more focused on mid and top, and it looked like top was the only lane that wasn't losing. It got to the point that everyone on their team got fed, and garen was the only one that wasn't feeding. The problem was that he was building full tank which wasn't needed. I saw this game as unwinnable especially with how fed that ashe was.

I was the only one that wanted to surrender, because I found the game a waste of time. When I voted for surrender everybody said no, and said things like, "surrendering is for pussies," and "what about the ip?"

I don't care about ip, especially in a ranked game. I play ranked to get better, therefore, I want to win. If I can't win, then I want out of an unwinnable game, and the chance at a new game to win. I don't feel like wasting my time with 4 uncooperative people, who do not know when a game is lost.

I am not going to defend the Diana, but sometimes it isn't that it is IMPOSSIBLE to come back and win, sometimes it is just so frustrating playing with players that refuse to make good choices that you would rather just end the game. Sometimes playing with certain people makes the game so miserable you would rather surrender than win anyway. Just an FYI (not necessarily implying you are one of those people)
