How to not get eaten by Voli?

JhomasTefferson·10/11/2015, 11:58:19 AM·2 votes·1,218 views

Cuz basically, you can't 1v1 him cuz of his ult, and you can't run from him cuz q, e, and exhaust and flash. Like, he's one of the few champs i face that consistently just shit on me every time I face them and I don't know how to beat him. Like, I try drawing his passive, Then you don't see him till it's back up. I try getting him low first then fighting him, but if i didn't draw passive first i lose. I try running, he's faster. I try poking, he doesn't care, as his w lets him build full tank. I really don't know what to do.

Can someone please help?

You kite him so even if he wants to go all in he is not able to. If you constantly keep him at half hp he won't initiate since he might or might not live it. Really if he is lane, poke him and harass him, if he is jungle, get wards since besides his Q he has no gapcloser.

Who are you playing?

Short answer is you never all in him and have some way of making that happen. Boots help with this.

Longer answer is champion dependent.

If you're playing a melee ranged champion, and you can't poke him or kite him, boots of swiftness will help (gives more ms than other boots and reduces slows from his E and exaust). He's not the best duelist tho, you can beat him 1vs1 with several champions. Garen and Darius are good vs him (I usually counter him with these guys), becaus their ult's can execute him before the passive procs.

Champions with a lot of lockdown can deal with him, or at least lock him down long enough for your teammates to kill him. Fiddlesticks Lissandra Lulu Morgana are great at this. Champions who can kite him are great too.

It's so easy to beat volibear. You simply kite him and he will run out of mana.

Chain CCs together and Voli will find it hard to catch anyone.

Igniting him right before his passive sets in really hurts him, or just applying grievous wounds (Morellos/Executioner's Calling). Voli's passive doesn't heal him all at once, so high enough DPS should still kill him. Like others say, kiting him is the most effective way to deal with him, he can't bite you if he can't get autos off.

volibear is an amazingly strong brawler and skirmisher early on. if you ignore him and avoid him until later, he falls off big time as he cant build damage

Don't fight a fair fight against him. If you trade even with Voli he will decimate you when your health gets low. You need to out poke him and be patient. Use his aggressiveness against him and call for your jungler or mid laner to roam. I like playing Gnar against him. Anytime he tries to engage you hop away and slow him with your boomerrang. Then you land a couple autos while he is slowed to proc your W and repeat. Wait til you proc his passive and then all in him when your rage bar is full.

What champs are you playing as? A good counter to Volibear is Mundo. Cleavers allow you to kite him nonstop and if he builds hp your cleavers will hurt him even more. Something like Jayce can kite him also due to ranged stance and swapping stances give a speed boost and ignores unit collision. And if he gets close just smack him away. And if you're Nasus just wither him every engage he attempts on you.

But keeping him at bay easily solves his impact on the game.

Hmm well Voli is faster when running towards an enemy so keep that in mind, his W gives him AS and is an execute so when its up and you are low just run until he loses his W stacks, his E has short range so just stay well out of AA range when he uses it and it will miss, his ult is probably his weakest skill to be honest. If you are laning against him summoner 14 is very useful, if you are Jungle then you will just need to dodge his abilities. His Q and W do run out, so try to kite him until they end.

You said you are playing Lee jg right? Well poke him from afar with Q, slow him and ward jump away while his Q and W is up. If he is low and has his passive, there isnt much you can do unless you are more fed then him. Wait for his passive to heal him and either go back in if you can or run if you are too low. If he does not have passive fight him and make sure you are watching his W stacks, after 3 AA's (including his Q) he can bite you, so if you are low either jump away or kick him away and hit him with your Q. By the time you go back in his W's stacks should have decayed and he wont be able to bite you. I dont play Lee but i know that Lee should probably win that fight since Voli's mechanics are far simpler then Lee's and he has no gap closer while Lee has several ways of moving around a fight.

Poke him, CC him when he Qs. Thats about it.

I mean if you are underfed KogMaw and he has item 3800 item 3153 item 3742 you are SCREWED but thats very few champs, you have to have no mobility and no notable CC

I'd hazard a guess that Ashe is a pretty solid pick against him because he has a really hard time sticking to people with persistent CC. It doesn't have to be hard CC either since he doesn't have a dash of any sort, so all you need to do is keep some sort of consistent slow, which Ashe obviously has. Other than that, try getting a Frozen mallet for your defensive item on a different carry to stay away from him, or maybe Rylai's on a mage.
