  1. There may be team fights where you don't want to ult. Probably the biggest thing people have trouble learning. Most commonly the best use of his ult is for disengage or stopping a straggler from getting away. Very rarely you can use it to split a team fight to give your team an advantage, better to just let it play out most of the time and land those double stuns.

Don't use your ult to stall the inevitable, dead is dead and pressing a max range pause button when no one else is around is not going to change anything. I am talking about someone trying to 1v1 and ulting ontop of the both of them. If they are running of course you can use it to disengage.

  1. Always start Q. Sure your jungler will love you if you give him 3 health packs BUT if you tank one hit and then stun the camp your jungler gets the same health benefit and you start off with a stronger lane.

  2. Most of the time the safest direction is back towards the enemy base. With CDR and maxing E second, as you should, every time a tunnel closes you can open another. Double back and then make sort of a 'U' shape back around to your base.

  3. Make a custom game and practice stunning the crab. Bards Q is relatively slow and has a small delay, master the Q, master bard.

  4. CU-CU-CU-COMBO! If your team is on there way and you can catch 2 out, Q (double stun), ult, Q. Longest lockdown in the game.

  5. Go immediately to the area just past the first bush of the lane (near the inner turret) and stand directly next to the wall at the start of the game. 2 chimes should spawn shortly. get those chimes. Go right back to that same spot, at 1:40 your next chime will spawn. This will keep your first chimes from spawning in a dangerous/ inconvenient spot.

Win or lose I fucking love BARD!

Great tips! Mistiming his ult is always worse than not ulting in the first place. I very very rarely use his ult during a team fight - mostly to peel or catch them.

I notice that most adcs leave team builder when I pick Bard unfortunately. Shame as his q double stun alone can win the laning phase if you land 2-3.

Couple other tips from me (probably pretty well known, but):

  1. The e bait - I usually use the magical journey to my team near the enemy and one or more of them follow - then q them to set up kills

  2. If we are healthy enough and enemy lane pushed to near our tower, I bait by placing a health pack in front of tower (just outside tower range towards the wall) - quite a few supports or even adcs go in to step on it - then just stun them for some free auto attacks
