Getting a single MR item against AD Malzahar is still a good idea since his abilities all have high base damages. If you get 
, 
,
, or 
you are typically fine for most of the laning phase and they all have nice bonuses that the champions can take advantage of.
It's not a good idea to build more MR after that unless you team has other magic damage threats, but a mid-tier MR item early is a worthwhile purchase in this matchup.
you know what's even better? AD Malz on urf when you take the 2 nexus towers at 10 mins.
