Might have figured out how to counter Riven and Fiora on top lane

When I was Garen , all I had to do was build full tank and when either one rushes at me (Riven with her dash and Fiora with her ult) all I used was his skill which brings up a shield that reduces damage by half and spin (and ult if needed). I take very little damage and they lose a good chunk of their hp and I can do it all over again since by the time they rush at me the cool-down for the shield is already over.

So by this logic, What other champs do everyone think would benefit a tanky build against them? I would assume they should have a good bit of sustain and ways to recover or lower damage on themselves.

I would like to think Malphite would be a nice choice given that his passive grants him a shield and he just has natural high defense. I would say Sion as well but I have heard, and experienced from time to time, that some of his skills refusing to work. But, his shield and HP gain from slain enemies would also be a great counter I would think.

I wonder how long it took for you to realize that Garen is Riven's #1 counter along with Renekton.

Malph is only a maybe. It depends on the aggression level of his opponent, his build, and his farm.

While not a hard counter, Trundle does pretty well against both of those champs, since he is also a semi tanky sustain champ, and his q is very anti ad, only thing is he is late game, i wouldnt even attempt to duel until you finish your BotRK unless you have a huge health advantage over them

Pretty sure Darius shits on both of them and is actually able to kill them because he does damage.

It's a very easy counter. You essentially just need to max W, build some early armor, and make the occasional trade. You have more sustain and take less damage than they do and, once you finish your Iceborn Gauntlet, you can easily kill them in an all-in fight. Just make sure to get an autoattack between each ability use and watch your mana early.

Also, the targeted stun is nice for forcing brief trades, stopping them from going in on you, and setting up ganks.

Maokai is also a pretty good pick, especially against Riven. If you time your abilities correctly, you should be able to dodge a Q, W, or cancel an autoattack with your Twisted Advance and use your Q to interrupt her autoattack. You mostly want an early Frozen Heart or Iceborn Gauntlet in this matchup, though Rod of Ages can work with armor from another source.
