Tips for a top laner?

I main top lane mostly, Rumble, Tryndamere, little bit of Master Yi and Wukong, but I don't feel... completed. I mean, I play Ranked on it and do ten times worse than in a normal game. Is there something I'm missing? Should you not play as aggressively in Ranked as in normal? I don't know, but lookin' for tips. Anyone got any?

Top lane is alot of TP, roams and farm denial, learn to freeze lane and deny CS. It is more important in top lane than any other, top seems to be ignored by most JGs. Also old video but the concepts stand, learn these concepts and you will notice a drastic improvement in your play.

A good strategy for top lane is to make their jungler camp you by being overextended a lot and wasting the enemies time WITHOUT DIEING or trading your death for one of theirs because then your jungler can pressure the bot side of the map and take drags, kills, and towers. Not only does this relieve pressure off other lanes but it also makes their jungler get behind if they stay too long. To do this you need good vision so make sure your lanes always warded.

When your ahead try to roam and get other lanes ahead or if a lanes overextended gank it and try to get a kill/summoner spell.

Try to have a decent champion pool for top lane because usually top lane just fills in holes in the team comp. EX. Your team has a yi jungle, katarina mid, and janna/vayne bot you would probably want to pick someone with hard engage like malphite or wukong.
