How does Bloodthirster work?

It's got a 20% LS UNIQUE passive... which means what? That you can't stack the passive with another BT? Is that it?

Unlike the Ravenous Hydra, which specifically states that the LS "applies to the damage deal by the item", the BT doesn't; Does this mean that the LS on the BT is greater then that of the RH (not simply because the RH has 12% LS and the latter 20%, but because the RH's LS only comes from the damage dealt by the 75 AD on the item vs the 20% LS from the BT on overall damage)?

I think i have the wrong idea on the BT in that i think the LS on BT only applies to basic attacks and not to overall damage dealt. Does the LS on BT work only with basic attacks or overall damage?

If the LS on the BT works with overall damage dealt, then the only thing going for RH is the Passive for the wave clear and the insane bursty active.

Also, the active on the RH works best the more AD you have. I've never actually thought about this.

EDIT: Since the passive for LS on the RH isn't unique I can stack them till LS caps and have capped LS coming from almost all the over all damage being dealt? Hmm... Not to mention 100% HP regen for each..

EDIT: EDIT: Lastly, if i have Armor Pen. does the RH's active deal more damage? Does the ArP affect the damage dealt? I would think so considering that the active doesn't deal true damage, hence is affected by enemy Armor, so why not let ArP also fit in the equation? Can anyone confirm this?

TLDR; DEBUNKED...

LS on BTs don't stack. LS only works with AAs. RH's 12% LS works the same as BT's 20%, the only difference being that the RH's LS also applies to the damage dealt by it's active (not the 75 AD) Yes armor pen and armor affects the active, "Crescent", of the RH normally.

Only basic attacks.

Ravenous Hydra specifically mentions something along the lines of: "damage dealt by this item applies life steal."

Lifesteal only works on Auto Attacks. Hydra gives you 12% lifestyle, and makes the active/passive cleave damage give you lifesteal.

Armor Pen works on all physical damage dealt, as well as the armor on the enemy

EDIT: EDIT: Lastly, if i have Armor Pen. does the RH's active deal more damage? Does the ArP affect the damage dealt? I would think so considering that the active doesn't deal true damage, hence is affected by enemy Armor, so why not let ArP also fit in the equation? Can anyone confirm this?

As a general rule of thumb, BT is intended to bolster your single target dmg and is more in line with a defensive item. Hydra has bigger team fight impact and is intended to help you burst harder when unloading your combo's. This is why many lane bullies prefer this item, the free dmg on the active really adds value to small skirmishes.
