Map Awareness

So I'll admit it. I have some problems with map awareness. My eyes can only be looking at one part of the screen at once. I can't be paying attention to my lane and making sure I don't miss CS or get harrassed, while also simultaneously paying attention to my map to be sure that I'm not about to get ganked or objectives aren't about to be lost.

How do you do it? Serious question.

Honestly, just practice as often as you can. The more you consciously think about it, the easier it is to check multiple times. If you're consistently playing the same champion, you should have a feel for how much time you have between last hitting creeps, so check when there's that tiny break. You dont need long to glance at the map and assess the situations. Granted, I'm still a low-level/newbie player, so I can't really give great advice on this.

I had a friend once that set an alarm on his phone to go off every 10 seconds that would set an audible alarm. You'd hear that, check the map. Soon, your brain would just get used to flicking back and forth. One thing I also did for a while to train myself was to jungle. As you have more time to watch the lanes and map, you tend to check it more often. Similar principle to the alarm. It helps you to be aware to check it often.

Mine went up when I put it on the left side. Took a while to get used to, by I notice the bottom left side note than the bottom right.

I feel you bro. When I 1v1 mid I can beat everyone through Platinum 4 pretty much every time. But on a team I feel like G5 at BEST. Cause I can't focus on the map. Look at my match history. I have a KD Ratio > 2 more than 50% of my games - and I still lose most of them!!

Like everyone else has said, most of it is just based on the time you spend in game. You just have to keep playing and just consciously force yourself to look at your map, more often than you think. A good time to start checking is after you push a wave to their turret, back off a little bit and watch your map to see if there are any champions missing from any lanes and see if maybe the jungler is in a different lane and maybe even look for a roam. It's just a comfort and repetition sort of thing.

The same way you taught yourself to watch your mirrors when driving, however you did that.
