thinking of getting Morde, advice plz

so I been thinking about what champion i'd like to try out next and has always caught my eye but never went near him since I hardly ever see him in play. I main mid and support (concentrating on support this season), but I also enjoy toplane as well; which is where I'd like to add Morde for my toplane line up. (also curious if hes viable in mid or jung possibly with cinderhulk?)

To the point, I'd like to know your thoughts on his viability this season (5) and what are the best items for him. as well as tips on his laning and who you feel he best counters or has a hard time with. Thank you

(sidenote: I know i can watch youtube, which i will, but i like real input)

Since he is going to be reworked and now he is in a "half-rework state" I don't think you should buy him asap.

Wait for a couple of free rotations and try him.

He's extremely strong... unless you get ganked.

His passive shield and damage output is absolutely ridiculous, but it's balanced out because he has no CC or mobility

He's a good mid laner, top lane is harder for him because it's a longer lane which makes him even easier to gank.

AP bruiser does more than enough damage... but I've never tried the glass cannon build maybe it's better :p

I have laned against every champion more than once as morde in the top and middle lanes. The only lane he really loses post 6 is against Tryndamere. The reason? Trynd can ult and there is nothing you can do to peel him off of you. Yorick is kind of hard because you have to kill him twice, but once you have hextech revolver and some armor you can kill him twice over and over without much risk.

I love playing Morde and the recent change was really good for him as he got a little mobility. When i play him i play him Mid mainly or Top ocasionaly. this is what i Build

Starting items item 1054 if they are going to be doing single target damage to you often or item 1052

Core: item 3145 Allways get this pref on first back(then you have a choice between item 3152 and item 3146 both are viable choices i usually go Wota beacuse its cheaper and 10%cdr but gun blade gives you a bit more ad and life steal for autos so its still good )Next i usually go for item 3157 beacuse it gives me a decent amount of ap and defenceive bonuses(if im up against ap and dont really need it for def bounes item 3089 )

Other items i build: item 3020 item 3135 item 3116

Personaly havent tried item 3285 yet but i feel like it would be a great item on Morde

General tips: So When playing morde try to keep your sheild up not just spamming your skills and have everything on cooldown i personaly Max E then W or q depending on what i want at the time

My advice is to not buy Morde. At least not right now, wait until he is reworked or buffed without random compensation nerfs (cuz he needed to be nerfed so bad amirite?........). He is fun if you know how to use him, but he is just in a weak state right now and you probably wont have much fun. I stopped having fun with him after the DFG "compensations", they didnt change him all that much, just enough for me to stop having fun.
