When to pick singed?
I am not sure when to play him. I just faced a malph and I was out tanked and out damaged. I also have troubles playing him against anyone ranged. I get kited for days. What niche does he fill?

When you play against people you hate and that will 100% hate you back. Most stupid champion ever made even teemo seems to have more purpose
He's amazing against champions with poor waveclear (farm behind their tower).
He's amazing against weak early game junglers (farm behind two towers, outplay the enemy jungler).
He's amazing against teams that rely on speed to fight (build
)
He's amazing against teams that want to team fight as 5 (farm two waves in their base, run away laughing if they send >2 for you).
Recommend watching sirchez and invertedcomposer for solid singed play. DruidDroid too!
Melee champions such as jax, he wrecks jax because he relies on attacking constantly to proc his ult passive and attackspeed passive; except all you do is herp derp run around. You also scale harder than champions such as riven, just play safe till level 4-6 (depending on champion) and then pop ult whenever you get chased, or even just for the health/mana regen
Late game, if you have RoA, frozen heart, etc; all you got to do is pop your ult, ghost, and then proceed to poison the carries. Sure you may get kited (with move speed bonus from ult, ghost, and mega adhesive it'd be hard) but not only will they have to use alot to get away but the carries can't hurt your teammates while running away from you.
Hello! I don't play singed as much as some other champs, but as far as top laners go, he is one of my favorites.
Singed works against most melee brawlers. Darius, Garen, and the like. He doesn't work well against ranged top laners, Teemo, Karma and such, and he is managable but not a good pick if your opponent has a gapcloser of some sort. Also consider your enemies abilities. Cho gives me some problems, simply because his Q, W, and E give him more range than I can manage.
Never play him against a
or a
- Those two Yordles will destroy even the best Singed.
When playing singed your goal is to either get the enemy to chase you or toss them behind you and run in front of them.
Singed works best when farming. Once you get Tear and Catalyst, you can just farm. He is really good at clearing minion waves.
In teamfights, your goal is to isolate and weave around people with your q. Your auto's don't help much. Your job is to find someone out of position, ult, charge in, e them into your team and let the actual damage dealers do the rest. Just create streams of poison. You are a tank, plain and simple. Singed is perfect with teams centered around kiting, so a team with Lux, Ashe, Kalista will all work very well. All in teams are not so much his game.
I have had some success split pushing as him. Ghost + R makes for insane gettaways.
how the hell does singe get kited when he's the one running away? I think you fked up big time
also if you suspect that their cc is way too reliable in hindering your escapes, you probably don't wanna singe
Yeah, I played a couple of games and getting bullied in lane isn't really fun. He just seems like a champ you play if you don't care if you win or loose. Thanks for the posts though.
Took a cursory look through a few of your recent Singed games and I have some advice.
Singed doesn't have much in the way of utility compared to most tanks, so you need to be able to do damage to be a threat. This doesn't mean that you can skip durability, but you should probably focus on defensive AP items and tank items. [i.e. Rod of Ages > Righteous Glory]
Rod of Ages, Seraph's Embrace, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Thornmail, and Abyssal Scepter are all good choices for offensive items. Void Staff is pretty situation, but can work if you are already tanky enough.
Randuin's Omen, Frozen Heart, and Banshee's Veil are strong defensive items on him.
I would only recommend building one mana item on Singed. While his passive is a nice bonus, it's typically more effective to just purchase health and you don't need much mana after a certain point. I'd recommend either building Tear of the Goddess -> Rylai's Crystal Scepter or building Rod of Ages first in most games.
I would not recommend building Spell Vamp on Singed at any point. Singed only has two damage abilities, one of which is AoE and has reduced healing.
If it helps, here's my typical setup.
Masteries: 9/21/0 or 0/21/9 Runes: MS or AP Quints, Armor Seals, MR Glyphs, Hybrid Pen Marks Starting Items: Flask + 4 Health Potions Typical Build: Mercury Treads, Rod of Ages, Rylai's Crystal Scepter,, Thornmail, Liandry's Torment, Banshee's Veil
Just proxy waves vs ranged and make them chase you.
A lot of people get demoralized while playing singed and that's understandable. He is probably the absolute worst early game champion. If you choose him, you will probably get dumped on levels 1-5 so its normal to back twice, even 3 times if you have to. Singed is a monster late game champion so you need to understand that you are investing in the late game. So to answer your question, don't necessarily constrict yourself to champions that are melee and don't have a gap closer (reading other comments). You could destroy half those champions if you are patient (of course there are some opponents you will never win against simply because they won't let you survive your early game - Vayne). Your job, when you reach late game, is to simply take a nice frolic over to the adc and flip them. Even if it's a terrible flip, you're not worried because you either flipped them too far from the fight (in which case they'll probably start attacking you - which, with 200 armor is great for your team) or you flipped them out of position (basically, they gonna die). All in all, you shouldn't feel frustrated playing singed, the person you are playing against should be.
