Ekko counter thread

A lot of people have been having problems with this champ, so I wanted to post my own personal strats for dealing with this guy.

  1. Avoid his Q: Ekko is really mana hungry, and you can exploit this by avoiding his main harass tool. You can do this by stepping away from your minion lane as he throws it. If it does hit you, then move in the opposite direction of him to avoid getting hit twice.
  2. Watch for his W: Ekko's W is really predictable if you are watching him. If you see him cast it, then get to a safe position where he wouldn't be able to kill you even if he landed the stun. Wait out his shield if manages to proc it. It is only up for a short time.
  3. Punish him when his dash is down. Ekko has really high CD's early game, so you can exploit this by going on the offensive when his dash is down. If he manages to waste it, then you have an 15 second window of time to bully him. You can do a lot of damage in 15 seconds.
  4. Be wary of his level 6 powerspike. Ekko has two main powerspikes. His level 2 powerspike when he has his Q and E (which does massive damage if you let it.) and his level 6 powerspike. His ult is a heal/nuke, so you want avoid it at all costs. Always keep an eye on his ghost, and never get too close to it. IT IS HOT LAVA. Instead try to blow his ult as an escape. Ekko is strongest when his ult is up, so you have 110 seconds to decide what to do to that nuker and juker when it is down.

I hope you pulled something from this, and if you have any tricks and tips of your own make sure to post them below!

finally a thread not screaming for nerfs and making real attempts and actual successes at countering the slippery lil bugger

I know a few champs that counter him:

Ahri : Pop a charm in the middle of one of his blink/dashes. Also, he is quite squishy so he won't be able to do anything. Akali : Her W is just amazing against Ekko. He can't do shit cause he doesn't know where she is. Don't even get me started on when she reaches 6-- just pop a combo and he's a goner. Katarina : I'm not even sure how, but I've seen a lot of Kats shit on Ekko.. don't play much Kat so I wouldn't know.

I also found that in the top lane, Tryndamere does really well against Ekko. I have a little more information on this thread

Hope this helps!

I've seen Irelia beat Ekko. Somewhat of a skill matchup I guess, but Equilibrium Strike is a pretty good counter to Ekko's ult since he'll probably end up higher health then you are, which would guarantee a stun.

[[Don't take my word on it, I've never played this matchup before.]]

Yasuo shits on him IMO, wind wall his q and let your crits beat his passive Yasuo

I've wrecked Ekko with Morgana by farming well early pre-6 while poking, and luckily as I hit 6, he decided to combo me and I was able to 100-0 him easily with my ult. Still, I think his ult is crazy, just my last game I was playing Karma mid against him and did fine in lane, but in team fight Thresh and I were going at after him. I tied and rooted him, was throwing my ult and as I do he ults, I'm only missing a fourth health, kills me AND Thresh who is at almost FULL HEALTH. That is FUCKING RIDICULOUS Riot. Nerf know please!

Roots/Silences/ and almost any form of cc is extremely strong vs ekko. He cant ult when he is cc'd which makes his "oops" button not able to save him

I have 35games in normals as ekko and 1 in ranked (lvl 5 mastery) and whenever I havent played ekko and gone vs ekko (as zed and viktor) I destroyed him. Its really not hard, dont get hit by Q twice, and punish him for his mistakes to make him waste his ult as a getaway, and than his skirmish potential is really weak. Just bait out his abilities and than go in (like any mage/assassin ._.)

Malzahar is a really good counter

CrazyHollow6/1/2015, 4:13:23 PM1 votes

Malzahar is another strong counter. I've played this match up a couple of times and the only time I lost is when jungle interfered a lot. In general this match up works because when Ekko goes in you can just ult before he is able to burst you. So long as you don't get stunned this match up goes in your favor. Harass early with your E and win late with your combo when he tries to go in.

I played a game Blue Ezreal against Ekko

Then again I just think he's bad because Ekko (if good enough) can dodge every skillshot

The thing is that Blue Ezreal has poke and DPS so its not like he can heal beck to full when 1v1ing him

Also you have tons of mobility (you pretty much have a 2nd flash) so if he does all in you you can hopefully escape back to your tower.

Its probably an even matchup at high levels of play

ekko isnt even a great champ like rek'sai on release, a lot of things beat him.
