Should I Make the Switch from Top to Jungle?

Currently, I main top lane with the trio of Garen (54%), Wukong (54%), and Malphite (50%), and my secondary role is jungle. I'm beginning to wonder, though, if that's holding me back. I try to roam with each of them if I'm ahead in lane, but from top lane you can only do so much, even with teleport.

But the jungler has the largest impact on the game and is generally the deciding factor one way or the other. And, while it's not like top, where I'm well versed in every situation, opponent, etc., I cannot argue with results. With Wukong, I've carried teams to victory almost single-handedly. With Amumu, it wasn't until my 7th match with him that I scored my first loss. With Warwick, I did okay (38%) for basically learning on the job with the guy.

It wasn't until I started having some success with Warwick that I began to branch out and look at jungling as more than an "I'll do it if I have to" sort of deal. Now I have more junglers to choose for ranked than top laners. Only played WW, Wu, and Amumu in ranked so far, but there multiple others that I'm just waiting for the right situation to use, namely Vi and Sejuani.

I also plan to continue testing out other junglers, and think some like Jarvan IV, Pantheon, and even Lee Sin could soon join their ranks. I'm also intrigued by Naut, Fiddle, and Shaco, for even more diversity, but just haven't gotten around to trying then yet.

The only reason I can see not to switch over to jungle is the lack of consistency. Top lane, I'm about as consistent a performer as you'll find. I don't feed, I find ways to contribute even from behind, and I practically never truly lose my lane. Jungle, it's a bit more boom or bust. My win rate is higher, I feel I should point out, but I think the smaller sample size might be a factor in that. That all being said, I think I'm tired of being on the island up top. What say you guys?

P.S. Luckily I haven't had many jungler abusing teammates. Those sorts of people could easily turn me off the idea completely?

I think that even if you don't necessarily win more games, jungle is a good role to get proficient at. I really think it has shown me more about total map control and awareness than any other role possibly could. That aside, if you're looking just to win, take which ever you have higher win percentages in/feel you can improve the most in. If you have a 50% win ratio with jungle but feel you still have a lot you can do to improve, you might end up carrying yourself higher with jungle as you learn and adapt, than you will with top if you are stagnating.

Its funny you are making a post about this not too long ago myself I had the same issue. I am a support main and faithfully supported through season 4 and I wondered if that was holding me back. I then switched to mid for a while, wasn't really happy there, switched to ADC wasn't content there, moved on to jungle an stuck with that for a decent amount of time an felt something was missing. Ultimately I came to realize that Support is where I play my best and have the most game impact an most contribution to the team I'm on. So basically experiment for a while see if jungle suits you more than top lane an if it does stick with it, if it doesn't go back to top lane. If you feel like you can be doing more an can have more of an impact in jungle go for it. If you find that your place is top lane then stick with that and shoot for being the best top laner.

Hope this helps & happy summoning.
