i played rengar when he was free a while ago, he is a little difficult. but that's besides the fact, i didn't like his gameplay because he was too squishy.
i was wondering, is it possible to build him tanky? most reng builds i see are full AD.
Also, what would be a good instance to pick rengar? im guessing when your enemy has slippery targets like ahri, lucian, graves, ezrela, etc etc.
Any tips on rengar use?
Make sure you have a tank/bruiser top laner, don't pick Rengar jg if you have a glass cannon top laner. Gotta keep that balanced team comp. Also, consider not picking it if you have an assassin midlane, Rengar is better if you have a mage midlaner.
I dont play rengar, so I cant help you too much, but almost every rengar I've played against built tanky. They usually built a tri force, their jungle item, and a ravenous hydra, and then things like sunfire cape, warmogs, randuins, frozen mallet, etc. It makes him hurt a lot while also being difficult to take down. Ganking pre-6 is incredibly difficult since you have no mobility. If you dont use your ferocity-boosted bola strike, or if it misses, they're getting away without even having to use flash. Once you hit level 6, use your ult sparingly, because it has a high cd early levels. Try to ult lanes where your teammate doesnt have a ton of hard cc, so champs like fiora, darius, mundo, garen, etc.
building any jungler tanky means you wanna keep them in the frontline. whereas rengo's ult is best for killing backline squishies and for that you need burst damage, so tanky build doesnt work.
secondly, if you see their team is squishy you should pick rengar. and if they got low cc then no better pick than rengar.
if there is hard cc, you need to wait until most of it is spent and then go in. rengo needs some practice and do watch 3-4 pro vids for learning his mechanics

I main rengar, and can answer most of your questions. Firstly, Tankgar is acceptable, but not that strong. There's just not real reason to build him tank. He has very little utility aside from straight up murder. No peel, no hard cc aside from his conditional root.
Rengar is a good pick against (I feel) anyone, really even though I don't know. His root is really solid if you can land it, but otherwise he has a tough time against champs with escapes if his ult burst can kill them, although it normally can.
With rengar, I focus on farming until 6 and banking whenever ult is up. Also, if an enemy is overextending get five ferocity and lead off with bola root (this can be done pre and post 6). Nice, free kill 9 times out of 10. For build, I go rangers/stalkers w/warrior, Ionian Boots of Lucidity, then rush youmuus, then RH, then LW, then I tend to round off with a spirit visage. Cleaver/Maw are also good on him.
