Master Yi when behind

I have been learning this game little by little and lately I have been noticing a trend with him. When ahead he can be a really strong mid to late game carry. He has strong dueling and clean up a fight nicely, but do to his fairly squishy nature and lack of any crowd control what so ever, if he gets behind he has been quite useless. If he cant duel some one you can find him bringing absolutely nothing to the table. My question is, in situations like these what do you do? I have usually had the habit of disapearing into the jungle to farm hard, since his clear speeds are so good, and with luck I can get farmed up and catch up to not be useless, or split pushing basically trying to do the same thing get farmed up and avoid team fights as much as i can, but there have been several occassions when my team is wanting to team fight and start getting mad at me for "not helping" when I am trying to "help" by getting farmed up to the point that I am no longer useless since I feel in those situations the only thing I add to a team fight is another dead body for my enemy to feed on and another step closer for them to be to an Ace and a game over, while also not getting much farm meaning what falls behind is left behind... I am just wondering how other Yi players handle getting behind.

When I'm behind on Yi? Well first I recall

Then I get up, scratch my balls, stretch..meander over to the kitchen and check out the fridge, then decide on a sandwich, make said sammich, meander back over to the PC with food on plate and finish the loss of a game while I finish my sammich.

When behind as MasterYi, you build bruiser items.

item 3071 item 3742 item 3053 item 3078 all work quite well on him.

being perfectly honest none of this really helped, while builds are nice to know building tanky Yi is something I already occassionally do, and the question is more about decision making to get the gold to build said items rather then what items to build.

You're a late game hyper carry that has one of the highest permanent power spikes in the game. What should you do until you get to that point? Wave clear. Ward effectively, so you can farm efficiently. Second item sight stone is almost never a bad pick up, especially since Yi rarely forces a gank. If you know in advance that your team is at a disadvantage, have them pick champions with strong wave clear and disengage. The most important thing you can do is capitalize on enemy mistakes to get objectives and catch up.
