Pinged for item build

I am curious how many other people get items pinged on you when you are building items that are usually considered good on your champ. For example was playing a ranked game (we were behind, and my early game was bad) that we ended up winning I was playing kindred, I built a phage and an Executioner's calling in addition to bloodrazor. Bloodrazor because early game was bad, so only hope was to late scale, phage so that i could build into black cleaver for 2 purposes to handle the burst that their kayne was putting out and so that I could armor cut on the mundo. And my team started pinging me with ? and then phage like that is somehow weird when, as far as I can tell, black cleaver is one of the most common items built on kindred.
