Soo Mid lane just became the hardest lane

taleofsonata··2 votes·2,004 views

Roaming support, Jungler, ADC,Top and the mid lane itself. Getting camp all game and feel hopeless in Solo Queue, its either play safe laner or die. Im soo scare to lane mid nowadays that Id rather play my mid laner top.

Ive tried to communicate many many time but all my teamates do is report me for being annoying, of course I am annoying how am I suppose to cs or farm anything knowing there is a lee sin in the top side bush or a blitzcrank on the bottom side of the bush. Im soo scared to ward because each time I do I either get hooked or killed.

I can survive the laning but I would have a low amount of cs and then the jungler flames me for having low cs while their mid laner have tons of cs.

If I die, dragon gets taken, if I don`t ping bottom is going to complain.

I always start with boots just because I want to cs and hug my tower at the same time.

I don`t even know what to do anymore, even if I survive the lane 0/0/0 during mid game teamfight my team usually dies, and I end up being 0/3/1 calling me feeder.

The only way I can play mid lane is when there is Nasus top on my team because everone wants to bully him while I have an easy lane fighting in a fair 1 vs 1. That is why my most played champion is heimerdinger because of how safe he is.

Heimerdinger is good because nobody wants to fight him in a 1 vs 2 or even 1 vs 3. He is just soo good at counter ganking and his turret are useful threats.

Sometimes I take AD runes RED on ap mid laner just to last hit under towers, or Teleport just to get back to lane.

I was usually a mid laner back in season 3,4 but not I think Im gonna quit it just because its soo easy to kill a mid laner. Id rather be a mid laner top which is way more safer than mid.

I dont think in any of my game Im overextending, pretty much sitting at my tower and last hitting with abilities but then I run out of mana and feel helpless.

You guys can friend me because I really need help in soloqueue, I can play any lane but my playstyle is the farming type aswell as the late game or mid game monster.

My Best Champions in roles:

Mid: Pretty much all mid champion

Top:Garen and all mid laners

Jungle: Sejuani

ADC: Tristana Sivir

Support: I can play all support

For starters, I suggest trying new champs out in midlane. For example, I love Twisted Fate thematically, and I do great with him in team fights and late game, but early game I still need a lot of practice, whereas the reverse is true for Vladimir.

Next, hop in a custom bots game and practice last hitting minions with only your AAs. Without AD runes it's harder, but not impossible, and that way you can save your mana for harass and escape. Also, it is possible to ward the river bushes while standing on your side in the Fog of War, you just have to throw the ward down really close to the river edge. This will let you keep the river warded from a somewhat safer position. At level 9, spend the 250g to upgrade your Yellow trinket so you can ward both sides at the same time.

What mid laners do you prefer besides Heim? If they have an escape ability like a blink, dash, invulnerability, etc. make sure you leave that off CD and don't use it. Got Flash? Save that for escaping as well, and if you are near the jungle remember that Flashing over a wall can buy you an obscene amount of Run Away time.

Lastly, unless your mid laners (besides Heim) are high mobility champs like Ahri or Leblanc, don't do boots. You need the Doran's Ring mana regen to stay in lane. Alternatively, try picking up Vlad; built in sustain, naturally tankier, and no mana to worry about.

The problem is not about last hitting but its about getting tower dive and surviving with 1 hp, I play all mid laner I know all of them its been very long since I played this game I know how all the mid laner works, I rush boots because I want to dodge skill shot + annoying support + jungler movmeent speed such as lee sin =.= 350 really? most mid laner movement speed are ultra slow such as ziggs only 335.

Have you considered playing a long-range champion like Xerath or Lux? Maybe someone with mobility like Ahri? I main mid lane..and with the right positioning you should rarely get ganked. It's easy to ward one side of river early..then hug that side if you're going to push. Otherwise just stay near the middle of the lane.

taleofsonata1 votes

The problem why I don`t play Xerath or Lux much is that they easely get shutdonw by a fizz or a Warwick ulti or a sejuani ulti or anything that can catch them from far away.

taleofsonata1 votes

One thing Ive notice about the support roaming is that even if the enemie adc is alone Ive seen them make ridiculous plays on their own. Like it was an ezreal dodged thresh hook Q him back and aa to punish him. The thresh was then afraid to do anything to him saying Ezreal is too fed we can`t fight him.

My ADC though about just farming cs while blitz is gone, he was like oh shit blitz is gone free cs for me FINALLY.

taleofsonata1 votes

For exemple: Sejuani dash and press R you are stun locked, Blitzcrank then pull you and then you get binded by morgana and get cc forever.

mvargus1 votes

Sej dash/ult only works if you are on the side of the river she dashed from. The dash doesn't have that much range.

If all 3 (Blitz/Sej/Morgana) are there at the same time then Blitz roamed from bot lane. I'd have to ask how your bot lane was getting that badly wrecked. Normally if Blitz abandons his ADC to roam to mid lane, your ADC and support can either get a quick kill or can push the turret. And why didn't your support ping to warn you blitz had entered the river?

That isn't a common situation because it only works if bot lane is getting wrecked and the match is already turning against you.

taleofsonata1 votes

Another thing I have noticed is that Support barely pings or adc barely pings if bottom is missing thinking the blitz went to B.

mvargus1 votes

If bot lane enemies are coming up the river and camping mid, its not just no pings, I have to wonder about bot lanes warding. The support should be keeping the river bush and tri-bush just below dragon warded all the time so they should be able to see that Blitz was headed toward mid and start pinging.

That would be fully on your support for poor map/game awareness.

But sometimes pings don't help. Last night I was mid lane and had the top laner invade my lane and then continue towards bot lane. I called it out, but my ADC decided to chase the enemy jungler past the dragon pit and ran right into the top laner.

I recently started playing Ahri, but before that my 2 mid-lane AP champs were Cassiopeia (who has no escapes) and Annie (who also has no escapes) and despite that I rarely get successfully ganked.

Ganks on midlane are not actually easy to pull off if the midlaner has any map awareness. To the original poster, You need to think of a few things.

First - a jungler will rarely camp a lane. It takes them away from farming and means the other two lanes have no jungler presence. If you are being "camped" you are being overly aggressive in your last hitting and the jungler sees you as an easy target. Try to only last hit or even try to freeze the lane on your side of the river so the jungler will have to enter your turret range to attack.

Second - You complain about your wards being removed, but that in itself can be useful. The jungler has to stop and auto-attack the ward. If you are paying attention you'll see this happen and know "Hey, the jungler is in the river." This allows you to retreat toward your tower, again taking away that opportunity.

Third - you mention a Sejuani using flash + ult. That can work, but a Sejuani doing that in midlane is either very hungry or knows you are caught too far forward. If you have even decent reactions you can flash back and her ult misses completely, so the only way it will be used is if you don't ward at all and then are again too far forward in lane. As if you know she's in a bush you can start to back up and also move to the far side of the river.

So suggestions.

  1. Choose a side of the river to ward. I usually ward the bushes on the same side of the river as my turret (top for blue side, bot for purple/red side.) Once that ward is dropped keep mostly on that side of the lane when possible. And renew the ward whenever it goes down. This protects one side with the ward which will look out almost to the mid river bush on that side. And on the other side by simply being well outside of flash/dash range from the bush, so any gank attempt requires some running and gives you time to run back toward your tower. You can move the ward around as it expires, but the key is have it down and use it to guard the side you are going to fight on

  2. Never ever push the wave past the midpoint of the river unless----
    a) you killed the enemy laner and are pushing the wave to the turret before recalling b) you can see all the enemy champions on your mini-map and except for the midlaner, none are near you. c) you are going for a kill on someone who is already down to 25% health or less. This again reduces the opportunity for ganks. If you are already close to your tower few people are going to try to jump you.

  3. If you have CC, be prepared to use it the first time one of your enemies dives you when you are near your turret. Tower dives are something few champs want to do as the turret can kill them quickly if they are stunned/slowed/rooted. If you demonstrate that you can CC them in range of your turret they aren't going to dive you.

  4. On a similar note if you are below 25% health, retreat to your inner turret and then back. All the way to the inhibitor turret if the enemy jungler has shown a willingness to enter your jungle. This reduces the chance that you'll get dived.

If you concentrate on the little things like wards (life-savers) and not pushing the wave when you don't know where the jungler is (to avoid getting caught between a jungler and the enemy turret), you can play just about any champ in the midlane. Or any lane. The issues with ganks are true in every lane. Wards so you can see them coming and not being too far forward are the two ways to prevent your own death.

This. I would add that fighting from under your turret is a viable strategy, provided you can deter the enemy from poking you down prior to an all-in. For that make sure you have a long-ish range poke that minions can't block: Lux E (mana costly though), any of Ziggs abilities, Ahri Q, TF Q, etc. TBH I rarely if ever have an issue with getting ganked as Ziggs; between the AoE slow minefield and the W that I never use except for escapes, Ziggs can be fairly hard to catch. mvargus had some great suggestions to capitalize on that: pick a side, ward it, and stick to it.

Problem with people roaming mid and killing you there? Buy wards! Warding isn't just the support's job. Wards, saving champion lives since November 11 , 2009!

taleofsonata1 votes

Wards doesn`t save ppl when they have boots of mobility and ghost from nowhere or a top lane invisible twitch shen combo or invisible shaco, and they always clear my wards cuz they smite the birds and just clear my wards since they are the nearest to birds.

taleofsonata1 votes

The only thing I need is jungle pressure + blue buff for that mana sustain.

IcyPepper1 votes

Keep in mind that the jungler has two other lanes to gank, and other objectives to keep in mind.

And never rely on blue buff, it's not going to be there for you all the time. You are neither entitled to it (a jungler can decide the best way to use it, and it's not always good to put it on struggling midlaners. Sorry :( ), nor is it reliable when you can easily lose it or waste it by not doing anything with it (the second blue is usually better on the jungler so they can clear and keep up with the team, unless you're really snowballing and the jungler gives it to you to secure that advantage).

Blue buff is nice, but don't let it be a crutch.

place the wards deeper/further away so you have more warning if they're coming with speed or you catch them before they stealth.

{quoted}

But you saw them clear it, which was warning enough to tell you they were there. That's 75g well spent.

taleofsonata1 votes

o.o they got a free 30g from my wards.... DAMN IT BIRDS. One thing I`ve noticed about camper is that they go back in the jungle and clear some camps and go back mid to check for more wards and then stay for me to ward again soo they can LEE SIN Q, FLASH, HIKU!!!!

I'm not trying to bash you or make you feel bad, I'm honestly trying to give you feedback to help you improve your game:

Remember League of Legends is a team game, so if their jungler is camping mid so hard. That means he's neglecting the other lanes so think of it as you're taking pressure off of the other lanes if you're getting camped. Try playing champions with better escapes if you keep getting caught.

And don't stop buying wards! Even if he does clear your ward, Razor Sharp will probably only allow him to clear 1 ward. So if he used Razor Sharp to clear your ward that means he didn't clear a different ward with it. I say the top three things that make high elo from low elo is 1) Mechanics 2) CSing 3) Ward use/placement... Wards are SO IMPORTANT! If you want, upgrade your trinket to the 2 ward trinket. If he clears 1, replace it. After all Crimson Raptor only spawns every 1:55.

I know its a team game but soloqueue makes me feel hopeless to communicate with my team they just don`t respond and as soon as I said not to die I get Muted.

DrCyanide1 votes

While getting camped sucks, there's nothing new about anyone and everyone being able to show up in mid lane. There are 7 ways for an enemy to get into your lane, and it's impractical to ward them all, so you do the best you can and try to be smart with your risk taking.

It sounds like you're looking for a super safe champion that can help make plays...

I'd recommend giving Ziggs and Xerath another shot. item 3174 might be getting buffed in 5.6, and their range and utility give them a fair amount of safety. In the teamfight you can stay back and just keep chucking damage into the middle.

As someone that dabbles everywhere, support/adc are the hardest, you try working beside people you never talked to before.

Aaaand this is why I'm nice and drop a ward or two for friendly midlaners as the friendly neighborhood jungler. Then I calmly remind them to upgrade their trinket post-9.

mvargus1 votes

strangely I rarely have anyone camp a bush when I play mid. I think because even if my wards have timed out and vanished, I have enough map awareness to track the enemy and not get into easy reach of the bushes when there is a chance they might be there.

It sounds like your biggest issue is pushing the wave too hard. If you kill too many minions the wave will push forward and you'll end up fighting near the enemy turret. This leaves you very open to ganks as the jungler or other enemy champ can enter the lane near your turret and be between you and safety. If this is happening you need to slow down and stop pushing waves so that you are safer. Honestly, as a mid if you can you want to freeze the lane just outside the range of your turret. This will allow you to stand inside your turret's attack radius while you last hit. It's hard to do in practice, but you'll usually be able to stay near the enemy midlane on cS (or even get ahead) and the enemy jungler can do nothing to you unless they want to risk a tower dive.

If the support is camping mid, that's a fantastic opportunity for your bottom lane. Make them aware of it! Try a champion like Nid who gets free wards, or even pop a turret in the bush as Heim if you're concerned. Heim is a great champ for farming safely, but he tends to push the lane to dangerous territory if you're not careful. I've found rushing Zhonya's as Heim is pretty effective in ganks. The damage from your ult turret usually does enough damage to discourage the enemy from finishing you off.

Pick Ahri/Zed/LeBlanc and proceed to ignore ganks 90% of the time >_>.

taleofsonata1 votes

I pick champion based on team composition and not based on counter because I usually do good vs 1 vs 1 since I'm a farming type of player.

mvargus1 votes

Pick 3 champs you like as mid-laners. Only play those 3. Don't worry too much about team composition until you are in platinum. At the lower elos knowledge of your champion means a lot more than being able to counter. If you are a master of a champion you'll be able to defeat someone who makes a choice based on "well Teemo counters Garen according to the boards" or "But we need a tank to fill out our team comp so I'll take Singed." (I've been on teams that did that and got wrecked because the other team knew their champs and outplayed my team, especially the ones who decided on champ based on comp or counter.
