Mid Champs that Double for other roles?

Rengar Downey Jr·3/11/2015, 9:51:13 AM·2 votes·5,736 views

I Have 4800 IP and im looking at a few champs to run mid, but i also want them to be able to work in other lanes currently im looking at Kennen because i know he can mid (and last time i checked he worked as a top and maybe an adc too) also im looking at Brand because he can mid and support, then theres Vladimir who can mid and top. But I'm not sure how viable any of these champs are anymore, as i havent seen them in a long time, Suggestions on any? or maybe on some you may think would be better to get (I already have quite a few champs so any others that are suggested i may own)

Karma, mid/top/support Kennen, mid/top Vladimir, mid/top Ezreal, mid/adc Swain, mid/top Karthus, mid/jungle Morgana, mid/top/support Jarvan, mid/top/jungle

Honestly, I wouldn't worry much about whether you've seen the champion in a while. No one saw Viktor ever until... well about 2 weeks ago and now everyone's playing him. I would never correlate popularity with strength if I were you.

I would say Morgana and Zyra are two of your best bets (I know Zyra is 6300), but both are great in the mid or support position.

from jungler point of view i would say go with brand or kennen, both champs brings alot with their kits in ganks and both can hold on 1v2 or 2v2, vlad little to help secure kills in ganks

Orianna, mid/support

Vel'koz works almost exactly the same in support as in mid. It's comp-dependent, but he scales almost as well off levels as off items. Start Spellthief, poke with Q or W, peel with E, get Liandry's by mid-lategame, and ult intelligently. Congrats! You are now a carry support.

Kog'maw! He's a solid ADC, but also incredibly fun mid. Seraph's + Liandry's = raining hellfire artillery literally forever. Getting to level 6 can be a bit of a struggle with no escape moves and only a moderately strong high cooldown slow, but once you're there, you can farm ultra safely and wreak havoc from the back line.

Mordekaiser : Can do Top, or Mid. (I've also seen him jungle, but I wouldn't recommend it)

Chogath : Mid, Top, Jungle, and if you have REALLY good mana management, you can even take him bot lane as a support.

How has nobody said Diana? GO DIANA! I main mid and shes my favorite champion to play. She can also play top and jungle, and actually the entire reason I bought her was so I could learn jungle. Her q & ult combo is really unique and gives her incredible gank potential. Most of her counters in the mid lane are rarely played and you wont see much of them, while she counters some of the mainstream meta mid picks like Katarina, Zed, Akali. She also holds up great in the jungle, her shield gives her amazing sustain. She is a complete utility knife and mastering her can make you a master of the mid lane, top and the jungle.

Since nobody mentioned it Cassiopeia mid/top.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Kennen or Swain. Both work for mid and top, and Kennen can in fact go ADC, though it's a little different than most.

  1. Karma Karma. Back in season 4, she could mid, support, Top AND jungle. But alas, the mana changes and changes to the jungle have relegated her to top, mid and support only.

Viktor is both a really good mid laner and a pretty good top laner as well. He's a little expensive and fairly hard to play, but he's really fun to play once you learn him and is very worth giving a shot.

DocShocker3/11/2015, 6:24:03 PM1 votes

Heimerdinger Can be mid or top. Not really needs to be explained for why lol. Viktor Can go mid or top. Heard you max Q for top first for the shield and movement, but idk. Haven't tried it yet. (Hoping that his recent play in the pros doesn't get him hurt, being my fave champ in game next to Chogath .. Either that or the band wagon people that are now going to try and pick him up...) Velkoz Can be mid, but I much rather support. High harass/peel, just watch your mana. Max Q for damage as support then I usually do E for cooldown on his knock up rather than W for clear/poke. Just find him to be much safer being a support for ADC than being solo in mid and at risk of higher mobility champs, such as Ahri or Zed to just name probly the two more common I've seen, or jungle ganks. Zilean Can be mid or support. I actually found his latest changes to be amazing and help him even more. Bombs being a skill shot that can latch onto enemies or allies? Makes him all the more deadlier and safe. Haven't really found any major downsides to him aside from W not working on R, but bombs being how they are more than make up for it with zoning for time. Plus the double bomb stun is beautiful. Xerath Mid or support. Haven't tried him as support since the mana changes, but he works surprisingly decent. Just play similar to Vel and play safe behind minions/well-warded while poking. I usually go 1 point in Q at the start, but max W(can poke behind wave without risking CS loss on ADC and the slow) then E.

Annie Mid/Top/Support

Karma, mid/support

Kennen mid/top

Vlad mid/top

Ezreal mid/ADC

Morg mid/top/jungle

j4 top/jungle

Kassadin mid/top

Corki mid/top

Satan (Teemo) top/mid/ADC?

Nidalee Top/Mid?Jungle

Cassiopeia Top/Mid

Post edit: halfway through list forgot you said MID champs, may have listed a few that are not common mid but honestly, if you comfortable with any champ you can take it to any role (look at one trick ponys)

TheLordPrism3/12/2015, 6:34:48 AM1 votes

Diana can be played mid, top, AND jungle and do all three extremely well

Wydiwyg3/12/2015, 11:11:39 AM1 votes

..and nobody mentioned LeeSin, the melee, tanky dps, assassin, mage, tank, support, jungler yet! Play him wherever, it's freelo!

In all honesty though, Kennen would probably be the best pick. Fun to play, nice counter to Zed, varied build paths and relatively stable throughout the seasons, so he'll probably still be relevant a few patches in. :)

Wullf3/12/2015, 11:26:35 AM1 votes

Lulu - support/mid/top and I heard she can be done in jungle but that might have been in last season. Velkoz - support/mid Gragas - mid/supp/jungle/top Lissandra - top/mid (and I had some succses with her as support) Azir - mid/top Annie - mid/support (and someone tries top with her) Galio - mid/top/support (stron against AP dealers and nonexistant egainst AD teams)

Vladimir is a lot of fun, definitely one of my favorites. Makes for a pretty good poke mage for mid and an incredible tank late game for top. Kinda squishy until around level 9 and he definitely needs spell vamp. I like getting item 3145 and then getting item 3065 shortly thereafter. From there I just kinda go situational.

Malzahar If you're feeling really brave, you can build him AD and take him into the jungle. Seen absolutely terrifying footage of him wrecking as jungler.

MugyvrNinja3/12/2015, 1:29:45 PM1 votes

Play with what you feel comfortable with no one know's what you like better than you. How can I tell you that picking this champ or that champ would improve you as a player only you and you only know what needs to be done.

Fiddlesticks can do any lane but adc well
