Yesterday morning I won the last game I needed to get to level 30. I have no idea what to do. I know I don't want to start ranked right away because I need to practice other roles, but now that I'm really not working towards anything how do I get motivated to play?
Getting to 30 is just the beginning! Seriously, you can almost think of leveling to 30 as the tutorial. There's many things you can work toward:
-Unlocking content. Farm that IP!
-Mastering a champion. Pick someone you enjoy and play them a LOT until you can consistently perform well
-Mastering a role - learn to support or jungle or top lane or whatever - Find 2 or 3 champions you can play in that role and learn to do it comfortably
-Mastering a skill - hit 90cs by 10 minutes! Learn to move between auto attacks without losing DPS! Learn to control the minion wave so it's nearly always pushing toward your turret!
-Mastering the map - Always have at least 2 wards active! Take all three outer turrets in quick succession (take yours, rotate to another lane and take that, repeat for the final outer turret)! Learn the jungle timers and be able to predict where the enemy jungler is at any given time!
There's a MASSIVE depth to this game - even at the pro level where guys are playing 12 hours a day and have people whose whole job is to be theorycrafting, new things are being discovered and tested. Getting to 30 is an important first step, but now the real game begins :)
All that being said, I feel you on the motivation thing - ranked is what gets me going, as I'm fairly competitive. Once you have at least 2 champs that you can play comfortably in every role and 2 champs that you are VERY comfortable on, jump in! Worst that can happen is you'll be placed low, but hey that just means you have things to learn. Welcome to the club!
