Link is my lolskill, so you can see my match history and champ performance if it helps. The short version of my match history (for the lazy) is that I lost 8 out of the last 15 games, but was completely fed in ten of them and only actually did badly in three, maybe four of them if you count the nasus game where I went even and only had 230ish farm at 37 minutes (it was a lee top). Of those three, I actually fed in one, sucked moderately in another, and in a third I was forced into doing AD malzahar top because someone autolocked mid after me and we had a double jungle, with no adc.

Basically, my problem is that I'm winning lane and consistently performing the best on my team, but my team decides to just do stupid stuff (diving 1v4, dying nine times to a fiora in lane, banning poppy and teemo, and my personal favorite, being 20 kills behind and spamming "group up" in chat) and throw any lead I give out away.

I prefer mid (I always top if I can get Garen though because I have an 80% winrate on him), but I am moderately proficient (for silver at least) at all roles. I try to avoid bot because I hate having to rely on someone to win lane for me, which you would understand if you had witnessed the hell that is getting out of bronze for me, and also I lack meta supports on my account.

I have no idea at all how to carry harder. I consistently land all my abilities on priority targets in teamfights, I nearly always end up at least somewhat fed, I ward way more than my supports, and I pretty much always do the most damage on my team (excepting when I support or jungle, or if I have a teemo). I even manage to make pretty good calls most of the time, whether or not my team listens.

It's just disheartening to lose so many games, especially since you can see from my match history that I pretty much always do well, even in losing games (I made my way up to silver 4, only to be launched on a massive losing streak that now has me at 0 LP silver 5 for the past few days, barely holding on to silver).

I feel like the games that are filled with potatoes on my team should be balanced out by the games where I get carried by people better than me, especially if I'm in the rank I'm supposed to be in, but that just doesn't seem to happen, and I end up fighting 1v9s more often than not.

Any tips for actually winning games beyond warding and winning lane would be appreciated.

TL;DR: I do well usually but still lose, please help.

So from the way you're typing your post, I'm distinctly getting the impression that you are reeeeeaaaally focused on your own personal kill potential. Along with this, from your lolskill score, you have way more deaths on way too many champions than average. Might I assume you are the kind of player who would prioritize an easy kill over an easy tower?

Perhaps you just need to readjust your perspective on the game. I'm reading a very TDM playstyle out of you and to be frank, League just isn't won by having more kills than the opponent. It's smartly cutting off the opposing team objective by objective and destroying the nexus that wins games.

As a mid laner, unless you ever start maining AD Assassins or AD pseudo Assassins like Zed or Yasuo, you need to learn to snowball the teammate with the strongest siege potential on your team. Normally, you should roam bot lane since the ADC is amazing in almost all siege situations, but always keep an eye out for those light fighter/melee carry top laners who can splitpush like hell or dive fighters that can force fights around objectives in your favor. Your job is, unfortunately for the advice I'm trying to give you, best suited for killing the enemy. Just try to do so in a way that either grants you objective control (feeding the correct teammates) or cuts off the opponents' (killing their main carries).

As a top laner, or more specifically as Garen, you kinda are flexible based on how you build, or what sort of matchup you're in. You can proxy farm vs those with weak waveclear, you can bully the vast majority of light fighters and splitpushers, and most of the time you can handle ranged matchups. Garen is unfortunately heavily kill based and unlike most mid laners, far less helpful for the rest of the team, so winning with Garen is all about the solo performance in my eyes. His E is fantastic waveclear though and with his Q he does solid damage to towers, so he can play the objective game rather well if you know what you're doing.

You really should learn to get the hang of bot lane. Understanding how bot works makes your siege potential so much greater.

No comments on Junglers since they tend to be everywhere in terms of kill vs objective potential.

@ tehNACHO: I really do try to play around objectives, it's just sort of hard to do that as an AP midlaner when your team doesn't feel the same way. I feel like a lot of people in low ELO either take kills too seriously (by either chasing to the ends of the earth, or losing hope when behind on kills on a lategame comp), or doesn't take them seriously enough (as in, team is 11/30 and the jungler keeps spamming to group up), and neither one of those is particularly helpful for taking towers. Either way, I'm going to go learn splitpushers now and see if that's a viable strategy to solo carry.

@RouterSmiter: It's not that bad :( I ward more than 40% of people, that seems appropriate for low silver. It's like on the low end of average. Meh farming also does seem appropriate for where I am. On the flip side, my warding on fighters seems to be awesome! Which probably means that I have exactly one game on fighters, and I warded a bunch. Still, that's a pretty nifty tool I now have bookmarked.
