Dfg and Ahri

I mained Ahri back in march (I have only played her two times since then, once today and once a few days ago). I stopped playing her because I was on a huge win streak with her (somewhere around 11 wins) and I was affraid to lose. Anyway those two games went really well and I decided I am no longer going to main akali, and I am going back to maining Ahri.

In those two game I played I realized I still have a huge problem. I never use my dfg before my skills. Typically I am far enough ahead or so far behind it doesn't really matter, but it's something I still need to work on. Anyway any tips on remembering to use dfg as well as using it and then landing charm? Or should I charm then dfg? (which would be much easier)

Things like these take time and practice to get accustomed to. I'm not sure there is any one specific trick that can fully correct your issue, but what worked for me in respect to active items was playing support a lot (using item 2049 and the array of other active items). This is a tedious method and something that I don't necessarily recommend doing if you're more comfortable at mid.

I'd say just practice calming down in fights because the number one reason that I miss actives is due to me being panicky. Train your eyes to look at the item slot, and if you have to make the HUD bigger using settings for a short time, I'd suggest that too.

As for hitting item 3128 in a certain order with charm I think the difference is negligible, seeing as "Enemies hit by Charm take 20% more magic damage from Ahri for 6 seconds" and "...[Deathfire Grasp] applies the debuff, Doom. Doom amplifies all magic damage that champion takes by 20% for 4 seconds.". Conclusion: In your case, I'd say to always try to use item 3128 after you've landed charm because you don't lose any damage and it is much easier for you to secure the combo.

Hope that helped in some way.

Good luck on the Rift, Afro

Titan,

I find that remembering to use item actives mid was one of the hardest things I had to learn (I still forget sometimes). It's better to DFG first, so the charm damage(What?!?!? It deals damage? Yes, it does. :) ) also factors into the stack for Dfg. That being said, couple of tricks you can use. You could try putting the dfg on smart cast right above your e ( so slot 3, since 4 is trinket) so it;s literally 3erqrwraa ignite (if they still live of course) combo.

Of course, I have one other piece of advice. Since the nerf to DFG, it's not always the best build on Ahri, depending on team comp. I'm going to direct you to an earlier post of mine on the forums, because I feel it might help with situational decision for purchases.

Obviously, if you can, DFG before the charm increases the damage you do with your charm, but if you would rather wait until you hit the charm, the damage if you are ahead is still not a big deal, so if you Charm->DFG->Q->W->Ignite and use your ults to position, you should kill someone, especially if you have a teammate there with you.

Basically, if you can be sure that you will hit your charm, DFG first and then Charm and then do the combo that you know works, considering you were/are and Ahri main. It's mostly comfort and testing. Figure out what feels best and most comfortable for you and things should work out.

i think its much more reliable to hit a charm before the dfg

I also fail to use DFG quickly. I usually end up forgetting I even have DFG even if it's my first item. I personally like to hit Charm before using anything else, so the perfect combo for me would be Charm -> DFG -> W + Q + Rs -> Ignite. However I end up using it in the middle or at the end because I forget. Like this: Charm -> W + Q -> DFG -> Rs -> Ignite (bad combo), or this: Charm -> W + Q -> Rs -> Ignite -> DFG (super derp combo).

Also by using DFG after Charm you don't waste DFG if you miss the charm.
