Dear Ryze "mains", shut your "I wanna become an LCS star" ass and listen up
I was myself a Ryze main before Ryze got introduced to LCS. And due to high picks/bans witnessed in LCS, I am forced to drop my hands from Ryze, as he is no more than another common FOTM top lane champion pick. So for now, I have no choice, but to give you some of my past experience Ryze tips:
- Start with
, not
. Your mana ratio got reduced, and you will have to spam more abilities than the usual old Ryze does. You definitely need that early mana sustain. - It's always best to practice last hitting minions with just your AA. Only use Q to cs whenever it looks far/desperate to reach.
- Maxing Q is actually a good option, rather than maxing your "LCS-sheep" W. Depends if you're good at landing skillshots, the mana spent definitely pays off.
- If you want to start aggressively harass your lane opponent, at pre-6 spam Q til you reached your 3rd or 4th stack. If you landed on the 3rd stack, snare the guy with W and spam a single Q to activate your passive. At 4th stack, use W before you go crazy with your passive.
Here is the basic primary combo set for using your passive: Q-W-Q-E-Q-W-Q-E............ and it goes on and on. You have to do this alternatively between your W & E to do maximum damage at your opponents. Works best with your ult & if your lane opponent is near his allies or minions. Do note that this will drain your mana rapidly, so choose your moment wisely.
- A couple of good & bad builds imo are below this list here (Again, this is just my thought & my best builds that helped me won some games):
- An essential item to buy early game & to build up some tankiness. An early Catalyst is important to keep up your lane sustain.
- Also not a bad item to build. It's up to you whether you want to finish this item for more early offensive stats, or Rod of Ages to gain early defensive stats with some mana/AP.
- An excellent mid/late game purchase. Useful if you're going against a bunch of AP champs like LeBlanc or Rumble, and the AP & Mr reduction can seriously boost your power a lot.
- 30% CDR on ult? Mana ratio got nerfed?

This item tbh is still an excellent defensive purchase for Ryze. 100 Armor is definitely useful against most AD carries, espeically since it accomodates with an Attack Speed slow debuff. 400 mana can still be worth getting for that small extra more AP stats, plus 20% to fill up that 10% CDR gap after level 16.
- Do I really have to explain this.....?
- A very powerful offensive item for Ryze. Combining this with W+ult, he can dish out TONS OF DAMAGE against a crowded enemy group. But do note getting this item early will sacrifice your early game defence stats, so if you really want this item so bad, play with caution, and buy some mthrfking wards.
- A very useful item in Hexakill, but I rarely grab it in SR. I only recommend getting this item if you're fed as fk.
- An excellent late game defensive item, since the fact besides your ult, you are pretty immobile. Just grab it if you're focused down first a lot.
Now for boots, Ryze has plenty of options to choose from:
- A good item to dish out more damage, especially early game.
- Best taken if you're going up against a heavy AD comp team, especially if they have a Vayne.
- Not a bad item if your top lane AP opponent is a freaking bully, or that enemy team has way too many CC comp.
- Also a tad okay to help your immobility. Not very recommended in most cases.
- ALWAYS WATCHOUT FOR GANKS. Again, be reminded that you're immobile. And additionally, you're not FNC Huni, so don't even try to 1v2 people only when necessary.
- Important note: **Ryze's W stops
**. So always watchout whenever your top lane opponent dares to tp bot to gank.
So these are the best I can give you. Wish you Ryze mains wannabe the best of luck, and I hope you guys aren't in my team so that my teammates's
can stomp your asses xD
Thank you for reading, and here's a holy god amount of potatoes

.
to help combat this.
Gives tankiness, mana and an active which lets you catch up. It's not core, but it's a good defensive item if you need it.
Is just flat out better than
