Well would you look at that? NOW everyone thinks Ryze is OP

Douches be like:

When Ryze just got reworked:

Wtf Riot, now his Q sucks.... I cant build tanky anymore......... Ryze rework is a failure..... Ryze just got Veigar'ed

When Ryze got played in LCS:

Omg 2+ snares in 5 seconds? Wow, he's so damn OP! So much spam, fking OP...... Riot, pls nerf Ryze...

This actually defines most of League Boards Community. It's kinds like this that I feel like bitchslapping so much.

It's always been like this. People never even bothered to test out the reworked abilities of a certain champion because they were too scared, and most specifically, it's kind of like a "I dont play Ryze a lot because my mom( FNC Huni, no offence bro :p ) doesnt". Now, it's all "Oh look, my mom rocks with Ryze! I should too!".

My advice?

Stop making yourself look as stupid as this, and learn the reworked champion's hidden OP-ness yourself, not until your mom says so.

Who knows, maybe LCS will play Q-reworked Veigar one day, and you'll just become the more obedient spoiled child and follow as usual.

Or maybe, just maybe, it was the major buff they gave him in the recent patch. Also perma snare is just beyond broken. He's going to be nerfed.

My explanation:

every Ryze worth their salt skilled RQWE. His reworked really did not change his playstyle except give him a window of extremely powerful gameplay instead of the same gameplay weaker all the time. His Q also gains the most damage per rank still. So people still skilled him exactly the same and failed.

What did LCS do differently? Maxed W first. You could always spam so many roots with him in lane but it didn't matter because it was only 0.75 seconds. Now it's ranked up to 1.5 and you can't move while Ryze keeps being Ryze. So yeah. All it took was breaking the skill pattern that has been set in stone for roughly 3 seasons.

I've played Ryze about 10 times the first day he was reworked, I watched the LCS game, and I still think Ryze is worse off.

I played him because of his builds, his strong late game, but most importantly, because he had targeted damage which countered mobility really hard especially early game.

His reworked Q stinks. The visual is further than the hitbox actually is. Yes you can now scout with it which is fine, but he is countered more now by champions he used to do fine against.

My biggest annoyance is his passive. You need to ramp up your passive...that's fine. But then when it's peaks, you lose it after 4 - 6 seconds?............................... You lose so much time in a team fight with it down, that you barely get to enjoy it while he's in steroid mode.

Not saying that he's bad, but I really can't stand his new playstyle.

Also Veigar only saw competitive play for his stun. There's no reason a team would pick him now. He's not a safe choice and his playmaking is very limited.

lol. welcome to league of casuals. :) they watch anything besides worlds and call it meta and then blindly follow what a pro says without understanding anything behind why or how :D

KilljoyX6/5/2015, 7:54:24 PM6 votes

Ryze had the effectiveness of his passive and ult literally doubled at early levels. I'd wager if you made yasuo's shield scale from 200-700 instead of 100-500 he'd also become broken OP.

Doubling the effectiveness of the passive was too much. It should probably be 4.5(1-10)/6(11-15)/7.5(16-18) to prevent ryze from walking to lane at level 3 and all inning his lane. He was absolutely terrible before his buff to Q passive and ult.

Hawkefire6/5/2015, 5:45:03 PM3 votes

Too be fair....I did say that Ryze didn't need further buffs after his rework as his damage was incredibly high and very strong and that it was people assuming that he sucked and not adapting their playstyle which is why everyone thought he was weak.

But sadly, people are sheep and once they have heard that something "sucks" or see a significant change (such as his Q becoming a skillshot) they will rapidly jump to conclusions that the champ is ruined and wont even attempt to change their playstyle.

For example, on average any game I play as Ryze I max my E before my Q (honestly there is no reason to max Q before anything other than just getting more damage out of it), and the reason I max my E is because the amount of damage that skill dishes out is downright crazy. It pretty much zones any melee laner that isn't tanky or doesn't have sustain. It is also very strong against ranged champions as it forces them to avoid their own minions or take a pretty massive amount of damage. This of course either zones the champ away from farm (in the case of melee champs) or forces them to (in most cases) not be able to use their minions as a shield from my Qs if they want to farm.

WutsKraken6/6/2015, 7:57:58 AM2 votes

Ryze has little mobility of his own, that movespeed buff on his ult is...okay...

But considering he's against people with blinks and dashes all over the place. I think having his W as it is is probably fair

That being said. Welp, time to say goodbye to another champ whom I use to counter the enemy top lane's "OP" pick

PS: Just saying, you wanna beat Ryze ? Quit banning Chogath and/or l2pick Jayce andGnar orYorick Ryze's kit is countered pretty damn well by these guys in lane and in the case of Chogath and Gnar, teamfights too and some scale with him as the game goes on

ShaftyMegee6/5/2015, 10:02:42 PM2 votes

When I tested the new ryze I loved him when I found out you can have his ult on like a 10 second cd mid game. People are nothing but sheeple, you have to understand that op

Only Play Darius6/6/2015, 4:49:17 AM2 votes

Post-rework Ryze was trash. He is played in LCS because he got buffed this patch.

IAintDarius6/6/2015, 11:53:19 AM2 votes

He was over buffed you tool.

Shield Villain6/5/2015, 8:10:40 PM2 votes

I always though Ryze was a little op, but I'm fairly sure that was just me being salty when he snares me, bursts me, and then snares me again as I try to flee.

ArkenStorm6/5/2015, 6:21:19 PM2 votes

THANK YOU. YOU HAVE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. I play both Ryze and Veigar, and he's super strong. Just because the pros do or do not do something does NOT mean that is or isn't good.

Like nobody builds ZZ'rot portal. It's a great sieging item, especially on naturally tanky people who don't really have a need for GA, but they need to be extra tanky and need to contribute somehow.

Jdubba16/6/2015, 4:01:06 AM1 votes

I think ryze could use some tweaking :/

Trídent6/6/2015, 4:51:16 AM1 votes

Veigar isnt trash

u hurt vei vei's feelings item 3070

SpecterVonBaren6/6/2015, 5:54:21 AM1 votes

I thought Ryze was OP about a week ago when I saw a top lane Ryze unload about 30 spells in five seconds and delete two people while taking no damage from them.

Paress6/6/2015, 9:17:29 AM1 votes

He got hugely buffed with the 4th stack instantly applying the cooldown reduction.

Kingsgrave6/6/2015, 9:19:54 AM1 votes

It's almost like he just got megabuffed and went up 11-13% or something

{quoted}

"Douches be like:" "I feel like bitchslapping [them] so much." "Stop making yourself look as stupid as this" "spoiled child"

Some advice: Considering "Ryze was a little too weak after rework" was the opinion of Riot, maybe you shouldn't be talking so much smack about them on their own boards.

TurquoiseYoshi6/7/2015, 6:20:08 AM1 votes

I haven't tried new Ryze yet because I don't own him ;-;. But he really needs to be nerfed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF9SS9a-gUM&index=15&list=PLPZ7h6L6LC7U9_nWdggcAwYIEoNERNBq7 (skip to 29:40) LOOK AT THIS SHIT

Rinky Dinky6/5/2015, 8:47:34 PM1 votes

I fucking called it.

Edit: I fucking double called it when I said that still maxing Q was stupid.

chipi996/5/2015, 10:57:55 PM1 votes

Tbh I felt realy weak when I played him a patch ago.

KidKaiser6/6/2015, 12:19:28 AM1 votes

honestly doubt veigar will ever see play in LCS again. stun cage nerf hit him hard. and trolololol 'compensation'

Zoratu6/6/2015, 12:23:05 AM1 votes

Actually I didn't even know he was played in the lcs but when I was 3/0 as akali top lane vs him and he killed me when he was 0/3 and I had 30 more cs than him, I made up my mind.

Adeyemon6/6/2015, 1:02:34 AM1 votes

Same thing happened with Kalista. I remember four months people were like she sucks etc. Now: she is soooooooo broken omg riot please

Buffy4326/6/2015, 1:09:49 AM1 votes

Veigar will never be played in the LCS. That "rework" was a failure on all accounts.

Samus Frost6/6/2015, 1:34:25 AM1 votes

I figured that he was OP anyways when he out traded an Anivia from the high elo spectator thing on the clients home page. He got so many shields that blocked a decent chunk of anivias damage so he was able to just soak her up and out trade.

Xonra6/6/2015, 2:33:50 AM1 votes

I still don't think he is op, just sayin'

his early game is just down right horrible, and without being some LCS caliber player, it is so easy to be punished early game (if the enemy team isn't having a stroke at the time).

He isn't strong until he has a few items at least, and around level 8-11 ish, assuming he didn't get pooped on.

sure he CAN be strong as hell, if you just ignore him and let him farm, instead of punishing his terribly bad early game.
