The scuttle crab cannot attack therefore cannot be taunted

Scuttle Bro got his own shadow dash, with 0 cooldown, energy cost and 3 times the range. #NerfScuttleBro2012

I don't think he existed in 2012

It was so fast back then no one saw him

Scuttle crab has AD for this exact reason Rammus Look it up

wait can scuttle crab kill you if you are low enough and you taunt?

The only taunt that works on him is Rammus (Maybe Galio too but who's gunna ult a scuttle crab) Against rammus I'm sure it's negative damage with all his armor so chances are no.

stevedoesmc1 votes

we need to test this, also i'd be pretty funny if it could happen and it causes some type of glitch or something

ItsStout1 votes

It doesn't have attacks speed or an animation, so no.

Rammus OK.

::taunts crab::

rammus can taunt crab, it just awkwardly moves

blueberrypancake2 votes

He does have AD tho

Is there some super secret Scuttle crab attack animation in the game's code? xD

Shroom Junkie5 votes

Nay.

If Shen taunted every monster he dashed to in this game, it'd just be annoying. Even if he did taunt the scuttlecrab, it'd be like a charm, because scuttlecrab is passive.

I like using his dash to get over walls and use mobility, not just make the monsters attack me faster... not like they run like people anyway.

HorusEye3 votes

I don't think I would find a tad annoying about it. Usually if his dash would taunt monsters, he would still receive reduced damage anyway. Most of the time, I even used Sejuani's Q just to kill monsters faster. Even if in terms of escaping, I really doubt they would hit you as hard as a Dunk Darius .

Yes, but the only good thing about it would be the reduced damage. Otherwise, it could just be plain annoying. Dash over a wall to escape... fuck I just got last hit by the red buff. Would've been better had I just not dashed over, but I'd not have died had the damned taunt not be on there! Plus, Sejuani's Q actually does damage. Shen's taunt does not.

Well only in rare occasions, yea, you just gotta watchout for it. But uhhh, if you speak for the Jungle Shen, taunted or not, it wont do any difference when you dash through a wall and into a monster, it will go aggro anyway thanks to the Cinderhulk build.

And Shen's taunt does damage, like 50 / 85 / 120 / 155 / 190 (+ 50% AP). Just unnoticeable, but it's still something when it comes to faster camp clears :)

Sire Hippington1 votes

not to forget the damage reduction vs taunted enemies, not much, but certainly helps with the early clear. also, if it restores energie vs monsters aswell, it would be a huge deal at useing the dash for map mobillity as well as jungleing.

Taken from the Lol Wiki

ACTIVE: Shen dashes in the target direction, dealing magic damage to enemy champions he hits, Taunt icon taunting them for 1.5 seconds and restoring 40 energy per target. Taunted opponents deal half damage to Shen.

MAGIC DAMAGE: 50 / 85 / 120 / 155 / 190 (+ 50% AP)

If Shadow dash hit monsters it would also deal damage to them.

I take it you never buy sunfire then? Because if you do... well then it doesn't really change anything

Try telling that to my Triforce tank Shen, when he taunts the ADC.

well his taunt should work as a root on scuttle rammus does it after all

10/10 would like to last hit with Shadow Dash sometimes

qetzel1 votes

*Yea or nay.

I see little problem with this except for the fact that Shen already has fairly decent sustain in the jungle. Would this push him over the edge (in terms of sustain. Obviously not overall)?

LilxPaprika1 votes

just give his ki strike bonus dmg to monsters. like shyvana w has bonus dmg. Especially now that its down to just 7 seconds. with feint up thats like 2.5 seconds with a lot of attacks speed. tbh their latests buffs to shen are really strong, i expect him to reach high numbers next patch. lets see how they play out first.

Visigoth1 votes

I'm not against it but I don't think it would do much for his jungling. His dash does minimal damage and is maxed last because it gives nothing upon putting points into it, whereas W gives more shield. Honestly for jungle Shen to be really good and able to contend with other champions he'd need something like Master Yi's Alpha Strike where his Q or Passive does bonus damage to monsters. But it'd have to be only monsters, because if it were minions, and his Q did the damage, he'd have a way too easy time in lane.

XxxLumberJackxxX1 votes

I'd rather his shield returned dmaage to monsters

rG Thundrag1 votes

Making his dash target monsters would make him more healthy than he already is and slightly increase his clear speed. I'm actually against this to be honest. The taunt would honestly save him about 140 hp at least during the first clear since they do reduced Autoattack damage.

Earl Eulrich1 votes

aslong as only the dmg part affects monsters...dashing through the birdcamp to regain energy could be a little abusive. Jungle-Shen is sorta fine currently, the upcoming shen-buff will put him very close to tier 1 anyway.

Silents4291 votes

Why? He clears fast and sustains better then most junglers as it is.

With the current buffs on PBE he is going to do it even better, this seems like a completely pointless change, that I can see screwing me over sometimes as I do E over walls to escape, and on the occasion I am low health I don't want to deal with a minion following me giving me away or ending up killing me.

ArkenStorm1 votes

Yeah, if this happened, can you say "broken?"

Tis a nice day1 votes

it's a QoL buff that doesn't really affect his jungle all that much except for taking scuttles.

Silents4291 votes

He doesn't have problems taking scuttle now?

And this isn't considered a QoL buff because as I mentioned as an example it can screw him over.

HorusEye1 votes

Like I said, taunted or not, you'll get attacked anyway by the aggro from your Cinderhulk builds, or Sunfire if you're top lane Shen.

ShaftyMegee1 votes

It doesn't affect monsters? No wonder his clear times are turtle speed

Kovah1 votes

Hell yea dude... there are SO MANY older champions that need some up to date tweaks... new champions have so many options in what they do because of how unique/detailed their abilities are. At the very least make the basic E of shen useful other than using on champs.

Exabytes1 votes

Yay? Nay. Gay

missinggrave1 votes

Same. ;)

Kouga1 votes

Once upon a time, this actually did effect enemy minions. Shen could taunt a whole wave of creeps to protect a tower if he had to - but man getting an entire wave aggro'd against you would still hurt X.x

I don't think it'd really change much. It's a woefully inefficient ability to use since it costs so much energy. And other than the crab, all the other monsters target you anyway o.O; so it wouldn't make much impact. Could theoretically use it for the damage reduction but again.. he doesn't really need it.

Could potentially get him into trouble though. If it can target creeps/neutrals then it could draw unwanted damage/agro when fighting in lane or trying to chase/escape through the jungle.

Need Gold 4 Tent1 votes

But the mechanics of his Ki Strike was also different back then, I recall it getting cdr from BEING hit by things rather than hitting things like it is now. You don't want to melee fight an Amumu in the middle of a minion wave and I think Shen had a similar mechanic. Though I don't recall did it trigger off minion hits or champion only.

Kouga1 votes

If you are referring to Amumu's damage reduction it applies to all physical damage so it triggers off champs, minions and neutral creeps.

And yeah, Shen has had quite a lot of tweaking over the years. You're right, his Ki Strike used to lower with getting hit. His Feint also behaved differently. Originally it blocked X damage per hit for a short period. That was pretty awesome. But it was changed shortly after to just be a flat shield. Personally I preferred the first version, it felt more Ninja esque.

And man, RIP the days when Shen also shielded himself with his Ult..

Akesgeroth1 votes

If anything on Shen needs a buff, it's his W. The way it works is supposed to be a soft taunt, namely that while it's up, your auto-attacks reduce his passive's cooldown even more. However, it's gone in one auto-attack and the damage on his passive is pathetic nowadays.

Shen always seems to tread a thin line between OP and useless and it usually depends on his damage potential.
