Question about last hitting

Is it worth it to use your skills (which means your using your mana) to last hit minions? I kind of have the philosophy that, you can recover mana, not gold. Is this a good way to think or you should not use your skills to secure cs?

I think it depends on what lane you're going off to, I tend to look at the mage minions to see who they focus. wait for the health to lower and last hit the minions the mages hit, then look at the melee minions and who they focus.

I used to blow all of my abilities just clearing waves but then when it came time to hit an enemy champion I have no mana, so micro managing the last hitting through what ever minion your guys focus helps save on mana.

Depends on the champion a bit as well as the situation

yes for these ones at least Annie Gangplank Veigar Nasus DrMundo Cassiopeia Malzahar Sivir TwistedFate Shen Vladimir

But for some it's not really worth it most of the time if you can get it with an auto Galio Orianna Poppy

If you are going for CS, yes. Saving enough mana to disengage/live.

If you are going for kills, if you have kill potential, mainly no, would stop at about 60-50% mana.

If you are going for pushing the enemy wave to his tower so he can't roam, definately, saving mana for disengage/survival.

Opinion from a support main.

Is it worth it...yes...but you use it wisely. You don't use skills to last hit if you can last hit it normally with autos. You use your skills for those that you would otherwise miss. For instance if you have two minions going down at the same time you can easily pop a quick Q at one (yes, yes...obviously champ dependent) while almost simultaneously autoing the other minion. But do not rely on it for last hitting as a whole...only a safeguard to keep from missing too much CS.
