Mystery Gift Math
This is a Tip/Trick for weary spenders who are thinking about buying the Mystery Skin for 490 RP.
I was thinking about whether or not to buy a Mystery Skin (ends March 24th, I do believe), so I did some math and found out if it would be worth taking a gamble. If you are wondering the same (some people probably don't care, but hey, worth a tip), then this guide is for you. This guide may not be of any use to you if you are good at math, or already know how to do this. (This is basic stuff). This guide is just to help those who are not-so great at math (I guess).
- Count all of your champs. (in my case, I have 11).
- Split the champs into ones you want a skin for, and ones you don't (Mine split 5 I don't, 6 I do)
- Count each skin for the champs you don't want skins for. (do not include skins already owned. I got 19.)
- Count each skin for the champs you do want skins for. (do not include skins already owned. I got 26)
- While keeping both (total) numbers handy, add them to see the total (mine ended up being 45 possible skins).
- Now take the number of skins you dislike (for me 19), divide by the number possible (45), and multiply the outcome by 100 (this will be your % chance. I got 42.2%)
- Do the same in step 6 to the number of skins you want. (I got 57.8%)
- To tell if you did it right, add both percentages. If you get 100, you have it right. (a few points over/under just means you didn't round).
Why do this? Well, if you are a weary spender who doesn't like to take chances, you are capable of seeing whether or not you should spend your RP on the Mystery Skin, or just buying a 520 skin and calling it good (depending on how much RP you have). I love the Mystery Skin because I enjoy gambling (heh), so I like the risk factor. But its always nice to know how much of a risk I am taking. But a skin is still a skin, so either way its a decent buy!
I hope I helped some people. If it didn't, or you already knew how to figure this, well I don't think you are still reading.
