The Bronze 5 Struggle

Not even the Bronze struggle, check your privilege on that. I'm talking about that moment when you start the day with a promos into bronze 4, but end up with 0 lp at the end of the day. Granted, parts of it are due to personal mistakes. You're always learning in this game, but dealing with ragers, afkers, dcers, and people who think they can solo a 1v5 as a support, just makes you want to punch a Yordle.

So share your stories of the Bronze 5 struggle. It might do you some good to hear about others who suffer as badly as you do or worse. Even hope that it'll get better.

Gonna derail my own thread and ask a question. How do you get your team to work together? When they don't like each other and refuse to listen? It feels like that's all I'm getting lately. I don't mind losing cause we suck, or the other team is better, but because we don't work together? I just don't even.

ward. tell them in chat that if you ping red they should instantly move away. Use wards and map awareness. take charge and tell them what to do. play champions that either split push saves your team or all in really well. While enemy bronze 5 can't deal with poke comps your team probably won't pull it off. _ Play a jungler or mid. If you jungle make sure to snow ball and use the numbers advantage and always get objectives unless it's to risky. If you mid you should pick someone who can roam well. Make sure bot lane gets fed first then you will have numbers advantage.

This is all in theory. I was never in Bronze 5.

I feel your pain. I was sitting at 80 LP in bronze 4 before I went on a loosing steak that dropped me back to the bottom of B5. I'm sure it is just coincidence, but from my experience matchmaking seems to hate winning streaks. As long as I advance slowly everything is peachy. If I get on a hot steak though, I can almost guarantee it will be followed by a massive loosing streak. It is almost like matchmaking intentionally throws a bunch of trolls and afks at you just to slow things down :(

In bronze its hard to work as a team. I would personally play a heavy mid laner who can roam (Annie, Lux). Your main goal is to kill/force the enemy out of lane so you can walk up or down to "assist" your teammates in winning their lanes. You don't have to take kills but lets say you helped bot so much and Lucian is 2/1/5 and Nami is 0/2/7. Just by the level and gold advantage they will be useful.

You have to carry in bronze. Period. That is a fact. I have played from bronze 5 to bronze 1 and my games went something like this to get it to bronze 1:

  • 20-3 record with lucian (every game was at least 15-25 kills and ~2 deaths - a 4.15 KDR)
  • 10-2 record with ahri

I was getting 9 points a win, and SLOWLY crept it up to 16 or so. The MMR when i was bronze 3 was STILL below 1000. It has nothing to do with team play, it is individual skill in that ELO. Period. No matter what. My buddy in one game went 36-0 as MID Lee Sin. You have to just get your mechanical skill and game knowledge up to the point to where you don't have to worry about your team. Just focus on you, homie. The only way to do that is practice. Keep at it.

For all of you people suggesting to play carries, who do I pick?

I was Bronze 4 and then got to my promos 3 times failed them all then lost 10 in a row to end up in Bronze 5... Again. I slow got my way up back to Bronze 4 and went right back to Bronze 5 after 4 games. (Currently Bronze 5, LP: 47) and if any other Bronzies wanna Duo shoot me a friend request. Want to meet some new people to make this game a little more enjoyable.

To get out of bronze, you pretty much have to carry your team.

  1. don't chase (everyone chases deep in bronze)
  2. focus on objectives (never just stand there. even if your whole team is turret diving, you focus on attacking that turret)
  3. punish for mistakes. guarantee bronze players make huge mistakes constantly you can capitalize on to get fed. all you have to do is just wait.

never had an issue getting out of bronze.

You dont need to work together. Go mid - kill enemy mid laner 2-3 times. Go kill bot lane. Go kill top lane. Kill jungler when he ganks you. Push towers and proceed to 1v2 and 1v3 with your gold advantage.

Play mid or jungle. Bring champions that have strong engage/disengage, like orianna/syndra for mid or senj/malph for jungle. All b5's do is group mid and push, and if you pick champs that want to do that you should win.

I have a friend who's been bronze V for ages, and I spectate his games a lot. You see crazy stuff down there - a lot of people who don't take flash and run teleport/<something that's not flash>, really terrible choices for a support because people can't play any support champions, and incredibly bizarre builds. For example, my buddy plays ADC a lot, but he's so shaky on trading that he never wants to actually autoattack anyone, and likes playing AP Miss Fortune just so he can poke people from range. I asked him why he doesn't play Corki, who's a much, much better version of doing that, and he tried him for a few games and did fantastic on him, but eventually switched back to MF because he doesn't like how Corki looks.

I think anyone can climb out of bronze V really easily if they just don't completely ignore advice. You don't need to take things people say as gospel, but if you're doing things that no one does outside of bronze, it might be worth looking at why no higher ranked players do that.
