"Hey guys, its our super-strong split pusher trying to shove a lane"

"Lets totally not do anything and wait until the enemy team uses half their ults on him, then casually stroll down mid and get surrounded, then killed. Sure we could push a lane or get dragon, but then again that'd be productive. Oh man, that split pusher sure is upset with us... Better tell him to keep split pushing while we go bot and then not go bot to repeat the process. Aw man how'd we lose?"

How the hell do you instill the concept of split pushing to people who got lucky enough to get out of bronze?

At that ranking it's probably a bad case of two different people having two different strategy plans but both being 100% confident theirs is right and fuck everyone else.

"Hey guys look our super strong split pusher is deciding to split while our team isn't grouped///at base buying and died AGAIN and is now raging at us for not all having teleport to get to mid turret quick enough"

Go to your match history. Look at the match in question. Look at your # of wards placed.

If the number is in the single digits, there is your problem. Your team of four can't risk pushing out until they see the enemy sending someone after the split-pusher. If you don't have wards covering the approach, your team does not get enough warning to actually do anything before your dead, and now it is a real 4V5 and they can't do anything.

I havn't finished my provisionals yet and my team either A) Doesn't even last long enough for my split push to be productive By the time I get in position and begin the push, my team has just lost 2-3 people and I need to recall now or cause us to lose turrets/game

Or B) They all converge on me with such swiftness and intensity I'm either obliterated or have to immediately back up in the case I have vision and see them coming.

This creates C) Even though I could not split push, my team splits up, and divide the tasks of taking raptor and wolf camps betwee them while 1 person goes to push top, completely nullifying the small window they had to push lanes

You lose these games. Hope for better ones.

While Fortune Pie didn't quite outline what he was saying, what he said still has merit. You can complain about a team not reacting great to a split push, but that team may also be thinking that their split pusher should be with the team.

This doesn't even seem like a question you are asking; it seems more like taking a jab at a team that didn't do well with your split push strategy. Assuming you legit want to learn how to split push better I will try and help you out on that.

This is in regards to solo queue. In a pre-made team this is different as you can plan ahead for these strategies with the other players.

The first and foremost thing you have to do is remove your team from the equation. It is your decision to split push, you can't hold other people accountable when that goes wrong. The goal of split pushing is to apply pressure on the map (hopefully take objectives if teams don't respond accordingly) and gain an advantage. This includes not dieing and not split pushing when the numbers advantage the enemy team will have shifts the team fight heavily in the enemies favor. (unless this is your last ditch effort split push hail mary please just let it work play, in which case you are already in a bad position in the game).

A few examples:

We did manage to get the scuttler crab and watch them come from mid to top over it, yet that didn't trigger much. Too fast for me to recall or teleport out. Of course with everyone having a pow-wow in mid, I was at least hoping that they'd get a tower, if not collapse on the graves trailing in the back.

Can't ask for miracles all the time.

This literally says you did not have enough vision up to split push. They walked past the scuttler crab, passing from mid to top, and you still stayed to die. If the entire enemy team goes MIA from mid you should think something is up. You see them walk over crab. They still kill you. Why on earth were you in so far that they could all afk from mid and you can't even teleport out? This was not your teams fault that you died and gave up some advantage. Did they mismanage their time by farming jungle / creeps/ whatever it is they were doing? Yes they did, but it got them gold while the enemy ran up to you. Did you probably give them a kill by staying for a few extra minions giving up map presence? Yeah, you did. You could have not died and while your team would have gained little, they would have gained. Make sure to keep wards up and work on map awareness.

"Lets totally not do anything and wait until the enemy team uses half their ults on him, then

Same problem. Why did a team get near enough to you to use half their ults on you? Split pushing is about awareness, vision, and pressure. Not just for the enemy, but you need to exercise these skills too.

Also, you did not mention if you tried to lead your team at all. Did you tell them "Hey, I am going to split top. We should apply some pressure on bot side of the map so that if the enemy sends multiple people my way we can get either dragon or turrets." Then see if they respond to you. With words. Don't just send that off into chat and walk towards top like the team is going to revolve around you. If you want to use a particular strategy that will require team coordination and response, don't just hope they know what to do. Tell them what they can do. Hell, only give them one option if it appears two options may be too many for them to figure out in time. Hell, you can get vision in the jungle with pinks, split push while your team waits in bushes for the enemy. Set up a plan with the team. Let them know something. Don't just hope they react the "right" way.

As a split pusher, you need to know when you can split, when you need to be around for teamfights, when you can take objectives, and do the relative power levels of the teams and their kits allow you to split at this time.

Hope this helps; good luck on the next one!
