Who should Trundle watch out for?

darkdill··1 votes·603 views

I've been having a blast with jungle Trundle right now in this tank meta. Trundle is SO GOOD versus tanks because of Subjugate, making even the most robust opponents into squishies.

That said, I'm curious as to who you guys think would give Trundle a hard time. In particular, I'd like to know who you'd watch out for in ranked.

My first thought on Trundle counters would be Nidalee. Not vulnerable to Chomp, very maneuverable, and not a good Subjugate target.

Second is Gragas. Again, no AD, can maneuver out of Pillar of Ice, but he's an okay Subjugate target. His ultimate is loads of trouble, though.

I've been playing trundle in the jungle too. Have you tried devourer? It's fricken scary.

Anyway what counters trundle is good kiting. If you can't get to them and start smacking then you don't really have anything to fall back on. Ahri and Ashe are some really solid picks against trundle. In a straight up auto attack fight trundle can beat anyone besides Tryndamere maybe a few others

I prefer Warrior since it's safer, and lets you use Subjugate and Pillar of Ice more often. Devourer is powerful, yes, but risky since it requires you to jungle-farm a lot.

I don't really know who counters him in the jungle (though both at full health very few of the other junglers can duel him as the game goes on), but I will say I think Cinderhulk might be better than Warrior for Trundle.

Trundle doesn't need Cinderhulk to be tanky, and he wants his Q to be more damaging in any case. Plus the CDR lets him use his Pillar more frequently, which helps a lot.

Late-game, I've found that only Master Yi and Tryndamere can beat Trundle 1v1.

Instead of a Warrior enchantment, why not run a black cleaver, along with your lifesteal item of choice? Only two damage items you should need, and BC gives more CDR than the Warrior Enchant, while also having the health increased by Cinderhulk. Combined with a Spirit Visage and that's 30% CDR right there.

Trundle's Q HURTS when you have bonus AD backing it up. Also, Trundle does more damage when he's whacking his target to death rather than just standing next to them and letting the immolation do the work.

Black Cleaver gives as much AD and provides stacking armour pen as well as health though.

A cinderhulk build with two damage items wouldn't sacrifice any offensive power and would give him even more defense, as well as quicker jungle clears.

Warrior gives Trundle his powerful dueling potential, though.

Warrior gives Trundle his powerful dueling potential, though.

His ult and his Q do that, and see, Trundle isn't really an early game champion. He takes a little bit to get ramped up and become powerful.

Black Cleaver also helps keep you from getting kited, as it is indeed one of his weaknesses.

Anyone who can kite him. A movespeed boost is not a substitute for a dash or good old' cc. Don't be fooled.

  1. Grievous Wounds - Always be careful when anyone has this.

  2. AP champions, but particularly ranged. He can deal with them late game, but most of them will destroy him early on. Many can also kite him all game.

  3. A good Irelia, Darius, Riven - Trundle wins late game, but they can cheese-snowball on him early if not careful.

  4. A good Jax, Tryndamere, Yasuo - If played well, they can win early and they most definitely win later. Never let them get an early kill on Trundle or you're gonna have a bad time.

  5. Vayne, Quinn, Teemo - Just don't lane against these champions. Later on, Trundle can ignore Teemo, has to be weary around Quinn (how dangerous she is depends entirely on how she builds), and should just avoid Vayne.

Also, I'm sure this goes without saying, but a good Lee Sin and Shaco pose trouble for anyone. Be careful around them early on and you'll outscale them.
