2 Rune pages will not cut it for long and you will need to buy more, end of story. When you first start playing it's fine to have just 1 AD page and 1 AP, and then buy 1 page and build a Tank page.
Once you start playing Ranked you need to buy the 7 page bundle for $20. Trust me you want to buy it and not spend the time unlocking them or buying them all 1 at a time like I did. it's way more cost effective to just buy the 7 page bundle.
The reason you want more rune pages is for match ups. In Ranked you get to see who your going vs in lane, and that's where your Runes help you the most. So if you are MID LANE and you're playing an AP Mage vs an AD such as Zed you can take a page that doesn't have MR Glyphs, and instead take something with CDR, Scaling CDR, AP, or Scaling AP. Or if you're in the TOP LANE and you're vs a tank that does AP damage you can take a page with MR Glyphs and Health Yellows instead of Armor Yellows, because Armor will not help you as much as Health VS and AP.
As for the pages you should take into MID LANE. I have 9 Magic Pen Reds, Health Yellows vs AP, Armor Yellows VS AD, MR Glyphs 99% of the time because most of the time you will be VS AP, and AP Quints.
If you are taking no MR make sure to take Health Per Level Yellows (Scaling Health) to make up for the lack of sustain in the mid game.
Some champs have really low cool-downs so Flat CDR Glyps work great for them in lane, where others might do well with Scaling CDR for the Mid and Late Game. If you are getting items that have CDR built in and you think you're going to get 40% from those then don't run CDR Glyphs, instead run AP glyphs. Flat if you have an early comp, or early power spike, or Scaling AP if you plan on going into the Late Game.
For a MID there are only a few Yellows you can take. Health, Scaling Health, Armor, or Scaling Armor depending on the match up.
