Im absolutely loving Viktor, is he as awesome as he seems?

Ive been dominating on Viktor in pretty much every lane except jungle. This guys kit is just fantastic in every way except he doesn't really have any mobility, but that seems like a small price to pay for the kind of damage he can put out, even with just his E.

So im thinking of playing this guy as my main for top/mid/support and im wondering if he is viable in all of those roles? Maybe ive just been lucky and have been playing against lower skilled players or something, but ive been seriously dominating my games (even games as support) with this guy and I really love his kit and playstyle.

Are there any drawbacks or quirks or anything I should know about him? My build is typically to get 1 or 2 of his unique item upgrades (hexcore I think theyre called?) as well as boots then either go pure AP with Deathcap or focus on more of a close quarters playstyle with Lichbane in tandem with my Q.

So I guess TL;DR, im looking for Viktor advice.

Viktor is awesome. He has some trouble against the usual assassins, but he's a lane bully against most other matchups. He brings a powerful teamfight presence and hits like a truck late game with his AP gains (if you buy his upgrades). He is definitely a suitable choice as a 'main', though i think his supporting skills may be a bit lackluster compared to other options.

I secretly think that Vik is slightly OP. His late game damage output combined with his CC and proper ult usage is straight up ridiculous. I don't tell a lot of people that, however XD

My advice:

  1. I wouldn't play him as support. He needs gold to scale up, and his base dmg and utility aren't good enough for the support role. If I'm in the mood to play a support but still want to do stupid amounts of dmg, I play Velkoz . But, hey, if you do well and it makes you happy...
  2. Take quickcast off for Viktor's E. It's much easier to aim via click and drag.
  3. My early build order is usually 1st hexcore upgrade-boots-lichbane-2nd upgrade. I think lichbane is best for both skirmishes and pushing down towers. And, oh yeah, it allows you to 1-shot squishies with your Q active if you get fed enough.

I've had mixed results with him as Support. He should be able to do well with his poke and slow/stun, but because that role is dependent on the ADC it's hard to tell.

To be honest, most ADCs whine and feed if they don't get a support they deem acceptable, just be prepared for that.

As a Viktor main for the start of s5 and the end of s4 (yes the old viktor... shudder's) I would say that the 3 things you got to know to do well on Viktor to excel are :

  1. Learn to 1 shot waves with upgraded 'e'. You can outpush almost anyone mid lane and also harass while you do it. Just go into a custom game and last hit until you get your item 3196 , then just practice hitting the entire wave with both parts of the Lazer. Once you get it down it's so satisfying to see your enemy tilt off of never having minion wave's xD

  2. Find a build that works for you, really experiment with all the builds. There are so many ways to build him and be viable. I like rushing item 3198 and then buying a item 3089 to get the 30% ap bonus on your eventual 180ap Hex-core. Basically every level-up is a powerspike. item 3100 , item 3157 ,item 3285 , item 3165 , item 3027 , item 3135 , item 3001, item 3116 , item 3151 are all strong on Viktor, although I would only grab item 3027 ,item 3165 as first items and item 3285 doesn't bring much over other ap item's late game other than the 120 ap. I honestly feel he has too many good options sometimes...

  3. Positioning. If you can put out a rotation of spells or land a 3-5 man 'w', they will die. On the flipside, you are squishy as all hell. You may need to use your 'e' max range and 'w' defensively, but staying alive wil get you very far, for your 'e'has no cast time and makes you unbelievably strong at kiting with your 'q's move speed as well.

Note: Most say not to quick cast 'E', but with a little practice it willget you way farther then not quick casting it, especially if you are kiting something where one little delay will get you in range of an auto or ability.

he's all good and nice until someone who plays a good assassin or a tanky mid comes along... then it's pretty much gg you.

So far the only opponent that's given me some trouble is a Ziggs. Its a hell of a lot harder for me to hit him with my E than it is for him to hit me with his Q, but I still managed to beat him in lane both in kills and in farm. I think im gonna try to stick it out with Vik, he's just so much fun.
