Post update Viktor (week 1)

So now that the dust has settled, so to speak, on the mage update, im wondering what peoples impressions of Viktor are now that we've had a week to play him.

Personally im not really finding him to be all that different than before, aside from far less burst potential in the early game. I will say that im finding it almost impossible to kill my lane opponent 1v1 now, which forces me to just play Farmville for the first 20 or so minutes, which is pretty boring.

Honestly from what im noticing in my games, I think his post-update success can be attributed to his ridiculous scalings on his abilities. More often than not, the aftershock damage on E and the third tick of my ult are irrelevant to getting a kill in mid-late game; they might as well not even exist as far as I can tell. Im pretty mortified that Riot is going to end up nerfing his initial damage numbers because of how high they can get, and really hammer home this idea that he is a team composition/wombo combo master that they seemingly want him to be.

Im also pretty annoyed with the fact that, at least in my opinion, Viktor has next to no build diversity anymore. item 3116 is pretty much a mandatory buy on him first or second, and considering you also need to upgrade your item 3196 , you really aren't left with many other options in the early game.

TL;DR: I will admit that his state post-update isn't as horrible as I expected it would be, but im scared that its solely because of the huge numbers he has on his abilities (specifically E and R), which means he doesn't even really need their delayed damage to be relevant in a fight. Im worried riot is either going to flat out nerf his damage, or shift more of it onto the delayed aspects of his E and R.

Lets try and keep the discussion healthy, please!

predicting that riot will nerf him for the same reasons they nerfed him a few patches ago, and then he'll join other champs in the garbage heap

if not, maybe they aren't as clueless as i thought

agreed on the lack of build diversity, it seems to be becoming more common now

I've been maining him as support, maxing his Q. Insane damage, three S+ so far. Went mid lane, but I faced a silver, so it wasn't a real matchup to me (I've mained Vik in diamond Season 5), so ended up 6/0/5 on the guy, eventually 18+.

His ult I FUCKIN HATE. 1 Second delay on E is reasonable. The Q damage increase is my fav.

I'm fully expecting Q to be nerfed. That shield is SO good, that it can outright prevent you from taking damage in extended fights when you're ahead. That's not healthy. And the worst part? It's not effective when you're behind.

He's been snowball changed. Stronger when fed, weaker when flat. Awkward to play. Needs to farm more. Engages enemy teams less. THIS is healthy team utility?!

This was the wrong way to go about change. Sol's rework was so good...

His E still feels like shit to use, and he can't really play as a burst mage anymore, but CDR builds are solid and he's still a functional champion.

I like him less, but he's good.

Idk, I actually enjoy the rework, granted the aftershock nerf is a pain but the fact I can clear a wave with 1 e, with just a dorans and 1 aa to each front minion is awesome. The ult imo is alot better than before, feels good to see it chunk, wish they made it on the same delay as e instead of 2 sec tho. Loving the q changes alot, might try archangel on him cause of the q shield scaling with mana and go a bruiser-esque build. Overall I feel his 1v1 potential has gotten a decent hit but that beautiful ult and even better q make up for it especially in team fights. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
