You should buy only Armor Pen on AD casters.

All AD casters have % based or other form of heavy hitting damage/resetting spells that allow them to build only armor pen and destroy everything because of the way penetration works right now and the fact that armor pen items give a good amount of AD as well.

Add a Hydra or BRK to the mix and congratulations, you can now build and carry with any AD Caster in this game currently!

Exceptions: AD casters that have a ton of true damage or magic damage ratios can get away with building Triforce, BRK, and go full tank, ignoring the armor penetration because you can't actually itemize against them.

Vayne is an ADC/Marksman, not an AD Caster.

AD Casters are the likes of Wukong, Zed, Riven, Kha'Zix, Rengar, and soforth. The only damage items they ever build is anything that has Armour pen on it and a Hydra/BRK. Then once they're super fed, they build one or two defensive items.

AD Casters are melee champions that rely primarily on their spells to deal damage. Darius scales insanely hard with Armor Pen. He has great base damage and scaling. Ever fought a Gangplank with Youumu's, LW, and IE? Jarvan was one of the best in the League of Black Cleavers, and he scales insanely well with armour pen. So well, in fact, that his Q gives him armour pen! Lee Sin usually builds tank, but when he builds armour pen, he wrecks everyone and everything Udyr is an auto-attack based Bruiser champion, and not an AD Caster. Regardless, have you ever played Ghostblade+LW+BC Tiger Udyr? Insane! Volibear is a tank

Riven stacks pen Jayce DEFINITELY stacks pen Jax isn't really an AD Caster. Like I said before. Anyone who relies primarily on auto attacks to deal damage is not an AD Caster.

Jax relies on Leap to close in to targets (Ability 1) Jax relies on Empower to reset an auto attack (Ability 2) Jax relies on Counterattack to CC the opponent (Ability 3)

Jax requires ability usage starting from level 1.

Jayce does not stack armor pen starting from level 1, Riven does not 'stack' armor pen. 1 last whisper or lw and youmuu isnt stacking armor pen.

With that logic, Graves, Vayne, Jinx(?), Quinn stack armor pen. Therefore, all ADC's should only buy armor pen.

Jax's primary damage is through autos and even his abilities play into that. Auto-attacking.

Riven stacks pen. There aren't that many pen items in this game but Riven loves them all. Jayce goes tear into all the armour pen as well so idk where you think you're going with that one.

Jayce buys tear-->brut to make up for lack of damage-->lw for pen.

In each case, they only buy 1 item for pen.

Are you telling me Yuumou's isn't a penetration item? Riven buys Ghostblade and LW, that's two of the three available pen items. She also buys BC quite frequently as well, because it's so amazing on her. That's all three pen items.

Jayce does the exact same thing. All three pen items scale amazingly with him and Ghostblade is a good purchase on Jayce. Cleaver can apply almost immediately due to his Hypercharge as well. I don't quite understand what you're saying by only 1 item for pen.

Jayce buys Brutalizer for the pen, because it gives him so much damage which is more damage than most other items would give him because Armour pen scales amazing well with him because he's an AD Caster.

Youmuu's is a penetration item, but that isn't why Jayce and Riven buys it. Jayce buys brutalizer for the CD and the makeup for damage due to the lack of it buying tear. Nobody buys Youmuu's on jayce, it's such a bad item on him.

Jayce and Riven only buy 1 item that they want to use primarily for penetration, which is whisper.

It's understanding the basics of itemization that provide the fundamental knowledge to assess builds, if you did the math you would understand that flat penetration < flat damage and full penetration < mostly damage and some penetration.
