I'm not a mid main. I barely ever play mid except when I am forced to - I was last pick and others were all picked.

They all instalocked their roles.

K. Me, the non-mid main, is the only person to go non-negative.

Look, I know I can always carry harder. But I'm just not good enough to solo carry against high gold/low plats. I'd assume that you do what I did when behind, since I'm unfamiliar with mid: play safe, get as much CS and poke as possible, and wait for jungler ganks or when the opponent gets low. Instead our top, bot and jg make the craziest dives and fail, get killed, and get snowballed on. Irelia died 1v1 to renekton. The only way I could've possibly won this game is if I stomped Annie even harder (I killed her after she was already 1-0 from killing Lee Sin in a 1v3; Lee Sin went to gank top but Irelia died already), went 10-0 in 10 minutes and got Morello/Rabadons/Lich Bane at the 20 minute mark. But I can't do that. I am not a diamond mid main. There's nothing I can do to stop fed Graves, fed Renekton and fed Udyr from just diving. Rest of team ff'ed at 20.

I just don't know what to do anymore.

Why do people play champs they aren't good with, or try to break the meta, in ranked? It's ok if you wanna try out Zilean mid, but if you aren't already good with it, don't in ranked. People go into ranked with normal draft mentality and I've seen people in normal draft with ranked mentality. Sometimes, you just gotta blame the guy that's "still learning a champ" in ranked, or "not that good top/mid/ect" You should not play ranked if you aren't adequate in all roles, and should not select a champ to play in ranked unless you are proficient with them. Ranked can sometimes be boring because of this. But that's what ranked is. About winning. If I wanna fool around with AD Cho Gath (and I do) I do that in normal. I know he's tied for the 2nd highest base AD in the game, so I know its viable.

If I were to do that in ranked and win, I'd get props. But if I were to do that in ranked and we lost, it would most likely be because I went AD Cho top. It is frustrating. I want to play ranked but I also want to have fun. Ranked is not fun, even when you climb the ladder.

Well, no. I'm in Bronze 5 and I know that. That's what top laners do. Mids are supposed to roam (especially to bot) to try to catch up that way, partially because of map positioning and partially because a lot of mids struggle to farm.

Yeah there are games where you just can't carry at your current skill level. You said it yourself, if you were a diamond mid main you could have stomped the annie and carried.

What you need to change is your mindset. Focus on self improving and try not to let it get to you when you lose. You're going to lose roughly 50% of the games you play, and not all of those losses are going to be your fault. Try to have fun playing even if your team is behind.

Blitzcrank/graves absolutely crushes bard/cait. nearly every hook is a kill because bard cait are so squishy with such a weak all in, meaning that bard/cait aren't able to safely poke like they want to. It's a completely losing lane.

Meanwhile, Renekton has a stronger early game than irelia and if she makes a couple mistakes early or gets ganked the lane can snowball into a nightmare where renek easily pokes/dives under tower.

Even if you main your roles, you can make mistakes or play bad lane matchups. Maybe it's just a match up that you don't know well yet, but want to learn. or maybe the other team has players that main their roles too!
