This is for everyone in the community right now who is struggling with ranked or hasn't started ranked yet.

Have a positive mindset and focus on improving. This is your greatest strength that allows you get better at the game. With improving, you will naturally get wins and climb elo. Don't dwindle on the losses that you get or how your teammates "played horribly and fed". You're going to play tons of ranked games. Focus on the bigger picture: every game is a learning experience that helps you get better at the game, ultimately building up your experience and knowledge and helping you grow as a player.

People think theres a secret to to getting to diamond or any higher elo but there really isn't. Like the rest of you, I started in bronze back in season 1. I was there so I can relate to your pains and ranked anxiety as I've experienced it all. But I didn't let that stop me. I kept focusing on my individual improvement, utilizing multiple resources like high elo streams (especially those that did commentary), guides, and forums to expand my knowledge of the game. Over the seasons, I was able to climb from bronze to diamond. Sure, it was a long road but it proves one thing: that its possible. If i can do it, then the rest of you can.

More like just play a massive quantity of matches and eventually you'll get lucky enough to get a win streak and bump up a division. In time, as long as you don't feed your pants off, you can make it to Diamond.

This is true statement. I have never seen a diamond with 200 games in ranked. It is always a shit load of games played. I once said that if this was a game of skill over experience and math you would see someone that started carrying teams as soon as they started rank. That never happens.

Yeah I came to this conclusion because I'm a Quinn main and I've looked at Quinn main players who are way higher rank than me, and my stats are basically the same as theirs, other than they have played like 2000 more games than I have.

Also because I can lose against silver players yet beat platinum players. There really isn't a huge skill gap between a gold player and a diamond level player... or heck, even challenger. The difference is the amount of games played and just overall experience with the game.

Obviously the guys at challenger are good, but they didn't have to climb from current bronze/silver elo to get there. They got to climb from platinum level, which is much more forgiving since people at that level generally know how to play and take objectives and group and work together. You can be the best player in the world but if your 4 teammates are dumb as bricks, you're gonna struggle to climb elo.

I've seen challenger players who go from bronze and climb up quite a ways, but they also get really lucky and manage to get good teams nearly every game. I don't think I've ever seen a true bronze to challenger solo queue climb though.

Challenger players and even high diamonds could probably win half their games 4v5 in bronze/silver, let alone have trouble climbing. you also act like its easier to win games in platinum level games, but don't be fooled. You will have the same bad team mates who feed and make the game basically a 4v5, it just happens a little less often. I am plat 5 and am having trouble. This is mostly due to my own play, which means this is where I belong unless I improve. Although, in gold 2-plat5 I swept games and went on a 10 game win streak, couple losses and a 7 game win streak. This is mostly because I was better then most of the other players in my game. Your MMR is very snowball-y because my MMR was really high and in my promos from gold 2 into gold 1 I was already being matched with 7+ plats per game (lots of people in plat 5 have the diamond border as well, they just haven't ranked up yet). With high MMR you also get better teams, and lower MMR worse teams; that much is true. When people blame elo hell or bad teams every game it's probably because they have bad MMR for their tier, which means harder games and equivalent LP losses/gains. In gold 1 I got +25LP per win and -15LP per loss, so even a 50% win ratio meant I still rank up.

You can definitely climb by playing 1000 games of ranked, but the fact is if you are better than your tier you will rise in a decent time manner. Besides, Diamonds with a lot of games played makes sense. It's not like you can literally become that good in less then a hundred games.

You say you can beat plats, of course you can! Does that mean you belong in plat? maybe and maybe not, but if you really want to you can get there.

your rank 3,110 out of over a million in NA which technically means your better than 99.75% of all ranked players...

I started season 3 bronze 5 and barely got silver season 4. However, I found my perfect mental state which you have described and went from silver to plat 5 in less than 100 games this season. It definitely started to click for me, good stuff sir.

i like your statement. My friend consistently tries to argue with me about plays and always rages and he has been stuck in silver 2 or below for the past two seasons. I'm working on my account, and I plan on overtaking him in the future.
