I feel helpless against Malzahar. What do I do to win lane.

I was playing viktor (cause he is my best mid lane and I don't know what counters malz). I would hit my lazers but he had enough hp points to last till 6. Is there counter play with his E. How can I stop it? I can I get around his ult. Even if i stay back, he would just flash in when his jung came up and score and easy kill. What do I do?

Reading the player tips seem pretty useless. The last tip says he's hard to 1v1, and to make sure you have enough hp to survive all his spell (don't think they are including ignite).

As a Malzahar main, I have to say that item 3140 is the bane of my existence.

It can sometime help early game if you actually intercept his E instead of letting him clear out all of your creeps. If he can't farm early game, he gets kinda weak and has to make up for it later.

Viktor is one of the few that can beat Malz in a 1v1 no gank scenario. Stick with Viktor.

Just keep an eye on where Malz' DoT is, the purple shade on units. It jumps to other units on death and refunds some mana to Malz. It's also Malz main source of damage early on. His Q/silence is easy enough to dodge. Just takes some practice. The zone is simple, try not to stand in it when it's on the ground. Once he gets his ult, try not to get caught out of place. He can easily punish you since he can get easy damage on you if he hits you with the DoT, places his zone on you, then tethers you in them both with ult(also he can ignite you if he's in range during his ult).

Also never leave his Voidlings alone for too long. They can do a LOT of damage if you just ignore them, specially since it targets enemies marked with the Dot or tethered by the ult. Just try to keep track of how many spells Malz has used since the last one(Voidling spawns on every 4th spell, I believe) to try and know when to anticipate it and kill it before it gets stronger after 7 seconds being alive.

As Viktor, just never get close too him and try not to stand near any of your minions that have the DoT and are low. Try not to get peeled by it. I can see it as a somewhat easy match up since you can out range him with E and zone him away with R. Also don't forget about your W. Malz has no mobility aside from summoner's or any MS item they might build. If you feel you got too close and you're going to get ult'd, drop your W on him(or the edge of it on him with the center of the trap being between you). If he ults you, he'll just get stunned and would have wasted it or will run away and keep you safe from a potential death.

Also keep in mind that Malz can help out in jungle ganks a lot. All it takes is him to Flash + R to suppress you as the jungler arrives then takes you down so make sure to ward.

item 3140 item 3157 work amazingly against Malzahar's ult. I used to main Malzahar, and he can definitely keep the pressure on the lane, especially once he acquires Blue Buff. He's EXTREMELY reliant on his Mana early game, so try to set up ganks when he gets low enough after a few Pokes. Once he gets behind, he can practically be out played the rest of the game. Go in for Pokes after you know his Q/E are on Cooldown and when he's going in to last hit since he lacks the mobility to get out of the way. Try to stay out of his range and attempt to freeze the lane near your turret, so he has to come in closer, risking turret damage, getting ganked, and/or losing experience. Once his voidlings come out, focus those. After 7 seconds, they get an attack bonus, and after 14 seconds they get an Attack Speed bonus. Bright side is they only last for 21 seconds before disappearing. Turrets will auto lock on his voidlings, so if one comes after you run back to turret for the easy kill on it.

Hope this helps, fren. :3

get a qss to block his ult

Malzahar's early game harass is easily worked around... Just don't go near minions that are about to die from his E, and dodge his Q. As Viktor, you can easily harass pre-6 malzahar to death by just Q+autoing. Malzahar can't deal with harass early game; he relies on his Q's long range and E's persistence to get to level 6. Once he reaches 6, he's going to try to ult you. Either build an item that counters him, or be ready to drop your Gravity Field the moment he puts his W under you or flashes at you— those are clear indications that Malzahar is about to ult, and Viktor's W can cancel part of it. If you're not confident in your ability to deal with level 6 Malz, you can always play cautiously and upgrade your E first for long-range waveclear.

I main Viktor, I have no problems. You need to be hitting most of your Qs, and try to hit 6 before him. You have a lot burst, you can easily kill him from full health, especially if you have ignite. his ultimate is annoying to deal with, but if I ever get to a point where he can use it to kill me, just hug the turret. 9 times out of ten, the Malz will get greedy, flash ult, and you'll get a free kill.

To beat him, honestly just get a Zhonya's or a Quick Silver Sash, to negate his Ultimate, then he becomes next to useless because he cant hold you down. If he catches on to that then he will ult someone else, but chances are, the other person he ults is tankier than you and can not only live it, but fight back and stall till the team gets there.

You're not supposed to beat Malzahar in lane. Either wait for a gank or just hold out as long as you can and make sure you get every last CS.

The good news is that he is next to worthless outside of lane.
